Treasure Time

Jennifer writes:

This is the first game that I made. We love it and I would love to share it with the other ladies. When we do our Bible time, we call it 'Treasure Time'...For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. So, I wanted a game to help us with our memory verses and good deeds

TO MAKE AND PLAY:

Begin in the upper left corner...BEGIN EVERYTHING WITH PRAYER is what it says.

The red circles are nothing...just the path.

The blue circles are verse circles. The player will draw a card (an index card with a verse reference on one side, a blue circle on the other) and recite the verse.

The green circles are good deed circles (an index card with a deed on one side and a green circle on the other). The green card say things like, "Tell the player to your left why they are special." or "Lead the group in a worship chorus." or "Tell three things you are thankful for." etc... If the player does what the cards say, they can toss a die to move.

The yellow circles are passage cards. The cards are like the others...a yellow circle on one side and a passage of scripture that needs to be recited on the other. If the player can recite the entire passage (Psalm 23, Eph. 6:10-18, The Prodigal Son, etc.) then he gets to move to the next space on the board that has a Bible in it.

Along the path are little sayings like, "Read your Bible, move ahead two spaces." and "Hit your brother, go back two spaces."

We have a lot of fun and it humbles my children. Sometimes it isn't easy to look someone (a sibling!) in the eyes and tell them sweet things about him/herself.

In the bottom center of the game, there is a green circle attached by a bridge to a red circle ~ if the player lands on that green, they may cross the bridge to the red.

In the upper right and lower left are a red, green, and yellow circle. These are the places where the 'skill cards' are placed during the game.

The game is over when the players reach the treasure. We continue play until all players get there.

Additional note from Jennifer:

For those of you who have been to the games website and seen/liked the Treasure Time game, thank you for your kind words. Here is list of my skill cards.

Blue ~ these are verses that my children have memorized...they recite the verse(s) and move ahead one space.

Yellow ~ these are passages/chapters that my children have memorized...they recite and move ahead to the next bible space.

Green ~ these are the good deed cards. They are as follows...

Tell the other players something God has done for you. Pick a player..now give that player a hug and tell them, "You are special." (this usually results in everyone getting a hug!)
Tell everyone three things that you are thankful for.
Look at the player to your right. What do you like about that person? Tell him/her what you like.
Lead all the players in a worship chorus/song.
Tell the player to your left why they are special.
Share with the players a verse that you like. Tell why you like it.

I'm sure that you will come up with many more great good deed cards, but here is a beginning. We have a lot of fun with this game and I hope that you do too.
