Animal Shoot This fun game drills basic addition and introduces children to graphs.
Note: We were not at all into really shooting animals when I made this game. So our "shooting" is with a camera.
Source of Picture Special Thanks to Lauren for lightening the pictures for me.
To Make:

These two pages were taken from All Kinds of Animals by Adelaide Holl. Unfortunately, this book is no longer in print. However, any similar picture would work fine.
I glued the picture to the file folder using rubber cement. I do not like to use white glue as it can take too long to dry and if not completely dry when covered with Contact paper, I have had it mold.
Then using a black marker, I carefully measured and drew out the grid. (Note: do not use permanent marker for anything that is going to be covered with Contact paper as it often "bleeds" over time.) Finally, I cover each side of the file folder with clear Contact paper to protect the picture.
To Play:
Three dice are needed for play. One has the letters A, B, C, D, E, and F on it. Blank dice can be purchased at teacher stores. OR using small stickers the dots on a regular dice can be covered and the letters written. The two other dice are standard dice, or can be dice with numerals 1-6 written on each instead of the dots.
In turn, a player shakes all three die. He then adds the two numbered die and using that answer with the lettered dice, he locates the indicated space on the grid.
He scores one point for each animal (or any part of an animal) that is within this square on the grid.
Score is kept on a sheet of paper, each player adding his own tally. We some times played to a certain SCORE or sometimes would just play for a set number of turns or set amount of time.
