Making InterLibrary Loans

Interloan Policy for Spooner Memorial Library

Interloan is a service provided for the patrons of Spooner Memorial Library who desire information that Spooner does not carry on its shelves. Spooner has an agreement of reciprocity with the other libraries in Wisconsin, which allows our patrons to borrow materials from them and allows their patrons to borrow from us.

Borrowing is done through the home library, not by the individual, although anyone with online capabilities at home may view WisCat (Wisconsin Union Catalog), at wiscat.brodart.com, print their selection and bring it into the library.

Procedures for conducting interloans are governed by Northern Waters Library System. Loan periods are set up by the lending library. Materials from most libraries are received and sent through system-wide delivery system.
In order to participate in the interloan service, the patron must comply with the following standards:

Interloan Regulations

• Patron must have a valid Spooner Memorial Library card with current address and phone number on file.
• InterLoan forms are located at the front desk. Patron's name and phone number, as well as the information about the material requested, must be filled out clearly and accurately.
• After being informed that InterLoan material is at the library, patron should make effort to pick it up within 5 working days. Materials must be checked out on the circulation computer.
• Due dates for all InterLoan materials are set by the lending library. Patrons wishing to use the interloan system must be willing to abide by the conditions set forth by the lending library.
• There are no renewal on InterLoan materials unless approval, prior to the due date, is granted by the interloan librarian.
