…runs along the shoreline just west of Stearns Wharf.
The park was named for Pearl and Harold Chase, two Santa Barbara citizens who devoted their lives to make our city more beautiful.
These three pictures were taken in 1998 on an early September day about 10 o'clock in the morning
This is part of the original stretch of Chase Palm Park along Cabrillo Blvd. simply a green shoreline park with tall palm trees swaying in the wind. A sight you'll not soon forget. On the right is the bikeway that runs parallel to Cabrillo Blvd. and the beach.
We took these pictures on Sunday, February 21, 1999.
Parking behind the friendly Visitors Center was not a problem. Walking down Cabrillo Blvd. we enjoyed looking at all the Arts and Craft that is displayed here on Sundays.
You'll find local artists selling their home made goods like pottery, clothing, dolls and all kinds of items and gadgets. It is very interesting to see.
On our way back to the car we visited Eugene and Helen Schmidt's Exhibition.
Eugene Schmidt is a local Artist. His original oil paintings are superb, you can find them all over the World, in places like the White House and Buckingham Palace etc.
Here are some samples of his work. Left you see "Rhotenburg an der Tauber, in the center is the SB Mission and on the right is the SB Court House. He has painted numerous different scenes of the Mission and Court House. I would love to create a web-site with just Eugene Schmidt's art.
Going back we see in the center picture the Santa Barbara Riviera.
The picture on the right is a view from the new Chase Palm Park addition toward the original park.
