War and Death
War and Death
I lay here dead after endless battle
With three days wait before heaven or hell
Three days to rest and ponder my ways
And to lay and to dream of brighter days
I watch the enemy retreat and know we just won another pointless fight
But who gives a damn who's wrong or who's right
We shoot, we kill, we die is how it goes.
When will we learn? Heaven only knows.
Why did I come here, for oil and land
I thought signing on would be so wise and so grand
My first battle and I get dumb from fear
I was too hasty and got shot from the rear
I fall to the ground and cry out no. NO! NO!!!
So here I lay, with no days down and only three long days to go.
