The Whiskey A Go-Go, Los Angeles,CA

Setlist

Early gig from the "Definitely Maybe" tour. It has good quality sound. It sounds like it is a pretty small club with a somewhat rowdy (drunk) crowd. The sound is heavy, as they play every track off "Definitely Maybe". Noel does backing vocals, but not in all of the songs, as Liam sneers out the lyrics with strong attitude. At the beginning and end of "Columbia", which lacked the catchy "yeah, yeah, yeah" lyrics, Liam and Noel both repeat "You know what I mean?" to the crowd.

Noel talks about how they're using "this special bass equipment where the sub-bass is so low, you can't even hear it. It's double low, man. We're talking underneath sub...dub sub!" Besides this, there is not much talking between the songs. It was announced that "Cigarettes & Alcohol" was for "..all you cowboys".

With lines like "Aren't you all feeling supersonic in Los Angeles. Or are you all just faking it?", it seemed the band wasn't connecting well with the crowd. Towards the end of the show, Liam especially, seemed to not connect with the crowd. Before the finale of "I Am The Walrus", Liam gives a very quick and insincere sounding, "This is the last one, see you all again, thanks for coming...good-bye."

Overall, it's a pretty good early show before Oasis started playing much bigger venues, especially in the States.
