This is a gig from the tour supporting "Definitely Maybe", which at the time was the Number One album in the press. Liam thanks the crowd for this. The vocals on this tape are very clear. The music is a little quiet, but the overall quality of the show is pretty good. Noel's acoustic set has very good quality sound. This bootleg is also known as "Hometown Showdown".
There isn't a whole lot of talking from the crowd. There seems to be some dickhead in the crowd with a laser pointer (as ususal). Before "Live Forever", Liam says "This one's for me mum, and Tony's mum...and me pet dog, and all the rest of them...and yourselves". He dedicates "Slide Away" to all the girls. They make it a point to introduce Jason, who's "from Manchester and has ten kids!". This is the fourth bootleg I have where the brothers introduce Jason. It's also the fourth different place they claim he is from. It is a little on-going inside joke for the band that nobody would get unless they went to another concert in another city.
This has a good early setlist. It has all of the songs off their debut album except "Shakermaker." It has some great acoustic B-sides. It has the traditional Beatles cover of "I Am the Walrus", and it has their "new single", "Whatever", which the crowd seems to already know. Good show.
