I know this page is long, but it is VERY important to read it. In this pokemon RPG, you are a pokemon trainer and you catch and battle pokemon. Alright, you already know that part. But here are the rules:

Your pokemon's HP is the same as its level and each attack does 2 damage. If the attack is super effective against the opponent the attack does 4 damage. If it isn't very effective then it does 1 damage. And if it is not effective at all (example: Electric VS Ground and Fighting VS Ghost) it does no damage.

To catch a pokemon, you go to the message board and put in a message saying that you want to catch a pokemon. Then I'll (or someone else in charge of the RPG) reply, saying which pokemon appears and its level. Then you reply with another message...this message would be easier to give you an example than to explain. So here's an example in which the pokemon is Caterpie:

Pikachu Go! Pikachu used Thundershock! Caterpie used String Shot! Pikachu's Speed fell. Pikachu used Thunderbolt. Pokeball Go!

Then I will approve or disapprove the catch. If it is caught, the pokemon caught will be added to your status.

When you start the game, you will have 500 Pokedollars and one pokeball.

You can also be a member of Team Rocket. Then you can steal pokemon from other players of the game. However there is a chance you will be caught and the pokemon you stole will be given back and another one of your stolen pokemon will be taken away. How this works is I will flip 4 coins. If 2 or more are heads then you are safe. If not, then you're not. Only pokemon you have stolen and have caught can be taken away. Team Rocket members can also catch pokemon, but stealing is another option. To try to steal a pokemon you must have a pokemon of the same level or higher level. Pokehouses are houses. Some are more secure from Team Rocket than others. The coin thing will be different when Team Rocket tries to steal you're pokemon if you are living in a more secure house.

To battle another pokemon trainer, a manager of the game will be a ref. Here is an example of a battle between a fake person named 'Pikapower' and another fake person named 'Char' (it looks like it is in a chatroom, but it takes place on the message board):

Pikapower: Anyone wanna battle? I choose my level 17 Pikachu.

Char: Alright Pikapower I'll battle. I choose my level 16 Sandshrew. Sandshrew uses Earthquake! It's super effective

Pikapower: Pikachu (13/17) used Thundershock. (not very effective at all)

Char: Sandshrew (16/16) attack 'em with earthquake! (super effective)

Pikapower: Pikachu (9/17) Thundershock (no damage- not effective)!

Char: Sandshrew (16/16) used Dig. (super effective- Ground VS Electric)

Pikapower: Pikachu (5/17) used Thundershock. (no damage)

Char: Sandshrew (16/16)! Dig attack now! (super effective).

Pikapower: Pikachu (1/17) used Thundershock (no damage).

Char: Sandshrew (16/16) finish 'em off with Dig! (super effective) You're knocked out. I win :)

So there's an example of a battle, then so after the battle a manager will add 50 Pokedollars to their stats. And the loser will lose 10 Pokedollars. (or you and your opponent can decide the amount of pokedollars for the winner, as long as the loser loses 1/5 of how much the winner wins) Why do you need a ref, you ask? That's for if there are effects, such as Tail Whip or growl or something that makes you confused, paralyzed, poisoned, burnt, and so on. The effects of effects start on your first turn of being like that. Here is some info on some effects:
Poisoned: After each of your turns you recieve 1 damage point.
Frozen: For 2 turns you can't attack, then you can once, then for another 2 turns you can't, and so on. During the turns you can't attack just say something like 'My pokemon can't attack due to being frozen' or 'My pokemon is frozen solid' or something like that.
Parlyzed: Just like being frozen, except you can't attack for only one turn instead of two.
Confused: Every other turn you recieve 1 damage point and can't attack. (in your first message of being confused, you don't attack and recieve 1 damage, then you can attack the next turn and then the turn after that you recieve 1 damage and don't attack and so on)

Attacks that change pokemon stats (speed, defense, attack, special) and what happens:

When your pokemon's speed falls then you have 3 regular turns, then your next attack misses. Then 3 attacks are normal, then one misses. Got it? And if your speed falls again, the normal turns changes to 2, then if it falls again it goes to every other turn your attack misses.
When your pokemon's defense falls, the attacks done to that pokemon (the one who's speed falls) will add 1. So instead of doing 2 damage (if it would be normal against the pokemon) it would do 3. But if it does 0 damage (for not being effective at all), it still does 0 damage. The damage points added go up when the pokemon's defense falls, but when it gets to adding 3 you can't add any more.
When your pokemon's attack falls, that pokemon's attack will be reduced by 1. However, if the pokemon's attack falls again, a normal attack would still do 1 damage, but a super effective attack would do 2 and not very effective would do 1. If the attack falls again, normal attacks do 1 and so do not very effective attacks and super effective attacks.
When a pokemon's special falls, if that pokemon does a super effective attack the super effective attack only does 3 damage. As the pokemon's special goes down more, the super effective attacks go down more. But the least a super effective attack would do this way is 2.

Now you're probaly wondering about what happens when your stats goes up. Think about it. If your pokemon's speed goes up, the effects of it going down would happen to your opponent. (as long as your opponent is battling the pokemon thats speed went up) So it is practically just like your opponent's speed falling. If you don't know what happens when your speed falls, see the above.
If your pokemon's defense goes up, attacks done to that pokemon are reduced, like your opponent's attack going down. (as long as your opponent is battling that pokemon whos defense goes up)
If your pokemon's attack goes up, you can add 1 to the damage done to your opponent as long as the attack isn't not effective at all. (such as fighting VS ghost would still do 0 damage if you need an example). You can add up to 2 damage this way.
If your pokemon's special goes up, super effective attacks can do 1 more damage than usual. This is alot like your attack going up, but only super effective attacks go up. Your special can go up a maximum of 2. If the your pokemon's attack and special go up you count both of them. If you make your special go up to the max and your attack to the max, you can do 8 damage (if the attack is super effective)! Well you should know how to do damage like 5 and 7 and well, you know by combing attack and special. This may sound confusing, but trust me, it isn't.

In battle you can switch pokemon, but I don't want you to switch too often so there is a limit of 2 switches for each person in one battle.

Oh, another thing: If you win a battle, each of your pokemon who were USED in battle, even if they were knocked out they gain 2 levels each. If you lose, the pokemon you used go up 1 level each.

Well I hope I explained clearly. If you still need a little help then email me at joshuaf@mwt.net.
