Championship Teams
2008 World Champion Philadelphia Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies stopped the Tampa Bay Rays incredible run through the postseason, capturing the franchise's second World Series title four games to one. Pitcher Cole Hamels was named World Series MVP.
This is a list of all the Temple Cup, Chronicle-Telegraph Cup, and World Series Champions since 1884. Since the inception of the American League into Major League Baseball in 1903, they have won 58 World Series (26 of those by the New York Yankees), while the National League has won 42 times (the St. Louis Cardinals lead the way with 10 victories).
