SCREECHING WEASEL-TELIVISION CITY DREAM (FAT) the world's greatest studio project these days.kinda dissapointing after Major Label Debut as it's not as instant but if you actually sit and concentrate when you listen to it it's great. They're not punk at all though, just look at the room they're sitting in,immaculate. That coffee table, I mean, where's the junk, the beer cans, overflowing ashtrays and ultra cool albums strewn about? looks like a yuppie interior designers get together. Ben's big square hair with cats on top is kinda cool though. THE QUEERS-PUNK ROCK CONFIDENTIAL (HOPELESS) Um, it's the Queers. Kinda short for a review but it sums it up. For those of you who haven't actually heard the Queers it's like this: Back in the midst of time Joey Ramone and Brian Wilson shared a beautful night of passion and the resultant offspring was Joe Queer, who wore cons and baseball caps and was the sum of his component parts. This album's like they're other ones, which are totally rocking. THE 'TONE-WIDE EYES AND NONSENSE (RUGGER BUGGER) This is fuckin brilliant! Leaning heavily on the Clash side with a big hint of SLF and a dash of Snuff. "Pauline" just captures being a kid in '77 so well. Definetely one of the best albums I've heard for a while. EVERLAST-WHAT IT'S LIKE (TOMMY BOY) Acoustic pseudo blues that reeks of commerciality. And Tommy Boy sounds like a designer jeans label. BORIS THE SPRINKLER-LITTLE YELLOW BOX (BULGE) Yeah, all right, a song about oriental female genitalia. Or about a handbag. Who knows. Shit, who cares. This Rocks with a capital R. This is a crap dance inducing, elbow flailing fucker of a 7". What a shit guitar lead. This kills like Adrenalin O.D., this is Punk Rock with a capital P and R. This is finished, fuck, put it on again. And again. And again. And again... TRAVIS CUT-SEVENTH INNING STRETCH (KARMA) Came out last year on vinyl, and what was i missing? top notch pop punk, fast, catchy sing along stuff. Every song's a winner. This is my idea of fun. PINTO-DOUGHTY ROAD (PHOENIX) Ultra delayed debut for various reasons. well worth the wait though. tight fast- paced melodic punk that will have your toes tappin and your head bobbin even when your on the bus for an early shift. can't let you in on any song titles cuz Lee never sent them up. get it for £7 post paid from Lee Byatt, 26 chelmsford avenue, grimsby, N. E. lincs, dn34 4rz. STARMARKET-STAYIN COOL (POP KID) Two 7"s, three sides and one etching. Kinda like an agitated Lovejunk. This sounds amazing, it really needs a bit more volume but it's 11pm so i'd better not turn it up anymore. melodic power pop with a bit of an emo tinge, only complaint is I have to keep changing sides. there's a cd on pop kid coming soon as well. JOLT/MARIACHI - SPLIT 7” (BOND GIRL) I THINK THIS IS THE POPPIEST JOLT SONG I’VE HEARD, IN A NOISY KINDA WAY. A SUGARY CHORUS TOPPED WITH GUITAR SQUALLS AND BURSTS OF FEEDBACK. THE MALE/FEMALE VOCALS JUST WORK SO WELL. MARIACHI TRAVEL A SIMILAR ROAD, WITHOUT THE DUAL VOCALS AND DO THE QUIET-LOUD THING PRETTY GOOD. BRINGS TO MIND FILLER WITH MORE PROMINENT VOCALS. BOND GIRL-50 BOUNDRY ROAD, LONDON, N22 6AD. SWINGIN’ UTTERS - THE SOUNDS WRONG EP (FAT) ROUGH VOICED SWAGGERING SING-ALONG STREET PUNK FROM BACK BEFORE THE IRISH ELEMENT TOOK EFFECT OF THEIR SOUND. THERE’S SIX SONGS ON HERE WHICH IS NEVER ENOUGH WHERE THE UTTERS ARE CONCERNED, MAYBE OK FOR VINYL BUT ON A CD? Y’KNOW, STICK ON SOME LIVE STUFF OR SOMETHING. UNLESS IT’S CHEAP, just GET A COPY. JETS TO BRAZIL - ORANGE RHYMING DICTIONARY (JADE TREE) I REMEMBER RODDY SAYING THESE GUYS WERE A BIT TOO EMO FOR ME. WHAT? LIKE I’VE ONLY GOT THE ATTENTION SPAN TO HANDLE MINUTE AND A HALF, THREE CHORD POP PUNKERS? WELL MAYBE HE HAS A POINT BUT I DO LIKE THIS, FOR A WHILE THEN I KIND OF LOSE TRACK OF IT, CHECK THE CD PLAYER AND SEE IT’S STILL THE SAME SONG THAT STARTED FIVE MINUTES AGO. HEY. I’M A BUSY GUY. YOU WANT TO SING ME A SONG THEN DO IT QUICK, I’VE GOT OTHER SONGS TO HEAR TODAY. DON’T READ THE LYRICS, THEY TOTALLY RUIN IT. RANDOM WORD SINDROME. BEST TO JUST LISTEN AND ENJOY. JADE TREE, 2310 KENNWYNN RD, WILMINGTON, DE 19810, USA. CATCHER - BLACKWATER (WEST NILE) THIS STARTS OFF PRETTY GOOD, LEATHERFACE COME CHINA DRUM TYPE OF AFFAIR, TOES ARE TAPPIN’, I’M HAPPY. THEN SONG NUMBER FOUR AND THEY TURN INTO THE FUCKING SMITHS! I HATE THE FUCKING SMITHS! BREAK THE CD, STAMP ON IT, KILL KILL, BURN THE SHINY LITTLE FUCKER! FIRST THREE SONGS ARE GOOD AND A COUPLE OF THE LATER ONES ARE NOT TO BAD IN A SLOW GIN BLOSSOMS WAY. I CAN HANDLE MELANCHOLY BUT NOT DEPRESSING, SO NO MORE SMITHS CRAP OK. ATTILA THE STOCKBROKERS BARNSTORMER - THE SIEGE OF SHOREHAM (PUFFOTTER PLATTEN) OH JEEZUS H FUCK! RECORDERS! ACOUSTIC AND ELECTRIC MANDOLA! TENOR CRUMHORN!!! WHAT EVER THE HELL THAT IS. WHATEVER IT IS IT SHOULD BE OUTLAWED FOR CONTRIBUTING TO THE MEDIEVAL COURT JESTER LA-DI-DA SHITE ON THIS DISC. THE THING IS, THEY CAN TURN IN SOME GOOD PUNK SONGS AND SOME OF THEIR LYRICS ARE GOOD, POLITICAL SORTA STUFF, IN THE ANARCHO/FOLK VEIN, BRINGING TO MIND DICK LUCAS BUT NOT AS GOOD, BUT THEY INSIST ON DEGENERATING INTO GOD AWFUL YE OLDE LUTE STRUMMING SING ABOUT ENGLAND TOSH AT EVERY GIVEN OPPORTUNITY. AND THEY DO THAT DIGGERS SONG THAT CHUMBAWUMBA DID ON THE ENGLISH REBEL SONGS THING. SO THEY’RE SHITE. PUFFOTTER PLATTEN, DAMASCHKESTR, 17A, 23560, LUBECK, GERMANY. STREIT - MICH UND DU (PUFFOTTER PLATTEN) WELL AFTER THE ABOVE CD ON THIS LABEL I DIDN’T WANT TO PUT THIS ON UNTIL I FIGURED THAT, WELL, THEY’RE GERMAN SO CHANCES ARE THEY WON’T BE SINGING ABOUT OLD ENGLAND. THERE DOESN’T SEEM TO BE ANY MENTION OF DUBIOUS INSTRUMENTS EITHER UNLESS YOU COUNT “STROMGITARRE”, EVEN THOUGH I CAN’T UNDERSTAND GERMAN, IT DOESN’T CONJURE UP A LUTE-Y PICTURE. SO, HERE GOES... UM. I THINK I’M IN SHOCK. IT’S EPITAPH STYLE MELODICORE SUNG IN GERMAN. IT SOUNDS WEIRD. IT’S GOOD, IT’S JUST HARD TO GET ROUND THE FACT THAT MY BRAIN CAN’T PLACE A MEANING TO WHAT IT’S HEARING. I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT THIS MUST BE THE FIRST TIME I’VE HEARD PUNK SUNG IN A FOREIGN (TO ME) LANGUAGE. I SAY SUNG CUZ LIKE NO SECURITY AND ALL THOSE SCANDINAVIAN CRUSTCORE BANDS I USED TO LISTEN TO COULD HAVE BEEN IN ANY LANGUAGE AND NO-ONE WOULD HAVE BEEN ANY THE WISER. ANYWAY NOT BAD AT ALL, ALTHOUGH THE FIFTH SONG SAILS A BIT CLOSE TO METAL WATERS FOR IT’S OWN GOOD. V/a - short music for short people (fat) 101 bands playing 30 second songs is probably a cd tailor made for my attention span. I think it’s hard to review this objectively, in some ways it’s just a novelty record but a lot of the songs are actually really good leaving you wanting more but ultimately this is probably just going to get played at parties when you’re all wrecked. 7 seconds - good to go (destiny) A return to form after an absence of 3 years or so. Very reminiscent of walk together or the crew. Fast paced hardcore with tons of wo-oh-oh singalongs. Basically it’s classic seconds stuff so you should get hold of it. Fastbreak – whenever you’re ready (revelation) I like this, driving hardcore with a melodic edge. Similar in sound to gorilla biscuits or 7 seconds with vocals from a more pop punk angle. Dance hall crashers – purr (pink and black) When i first played this i thought it was crap. Now after a few listens i quite like it. It’s very lightweight, not much in the way of punk and a bit of ska, you wouldn’t be surprised at hearing this on the radio, but after a while you just can’t resist the tunes, too damn breezy and sugary. Engage – promo cd This is just brilliant. I could leave it at that but i suppose i’d better expand a bit. This is some of the best old school hardcore i have ever heard, paul’s love of hardcore totally shines through from dagnasty to ignite it’s melted down and blasted out. They’re also ace live so check them out. Frenzal rhomb – a man’s not a camel (fat) I did have this lot written off as the australian nofx so i was pleased to hear that they have their own sound, whilst not a million miles from the aformentioned, being punky and melodic they imbue it with a kind of chirpy yobbishness and seem to like getting wasted and singing about it, so top marks there. Camber – anyway, i’ve been there (deep elm) Seems all the world and it’s dog are getting all emo so just what’s it all about? Well by listening to camber it’s like listening to an indie band with louder guitars. A bit of soft, a bit of loud and a bit of discordant, soft again, a final loud bit and isn’t this a bit like radiohead? Appleseed cast – the end of the ring wars (deep elm) More of this indie style rock but with a slightly harder sound than camber, i can’t pin point why i like this better maybe because it has less of that out of tune type of sound. I can actually sit and listen to this and in a way it’s almost beautiful and serene, apart from the scream the house down in angst parts which i couldn’t possibly shoehorn into the definition of serene. Grampus eight – demo The first thing you notice about this tape is the drums, they sound like one of those casio keyboards with the tempo on high, it definetely makes for an original sound. I suppose for a pigeon hole description i’d go for emo-pop-punk or maybe emolite cuz it they don’t go in for that scream yourself hoarse angst thing but concentrate on songs. 166 melwood drive, west derby, liverpool, l12 4yh. Dina – lenny the lion demo More scouse buggers here that are actually doing a split album with grampus 8. I have to say this at some point so i’ll get it over and done with now: ‘defect’ sounds like placebo. Ok the other 3 songs on here are pretty cool tuneful emo hardcore that comes real close to broccoli a couple of times especially on ‘my emo’, not that ged likes broccoli at all… 43 blackmoor drive, west derby, liverpool, l12 9ed W.o.r.m. – mullet in the head (s.i.d.) If this lot weren’t raised on screeching weasel and the queers since birth i’d be surprised. They may not be high on originality but they’ve got buckets of charm as they rattle through 21 songs in less time than it takes to read the titles with a kind of ‘everythings going to fall apart soon’ feel to it all. No use for a name – more betterness (fat) What a waste. They can obviously play well and the songs might be there but the production is so polished and so smooth that there’s no rough edge to gain purchase in your head and catch hold as it slips smoothly in one ear and out the other leaving no impression apart from a slight feeling of ky dribbling down your lug. At least they couldn’t polish ‘fairytale of new york’ down or i wouldn’t even have realised i’d put the cd on. Recidivist – promo cd New school hardcore that’s not total metal and vocals that are actually distinguishable instead of “aaargh! Bleurgh! Raaarg! Unity! Aaargh!” There’s four songs on this all heavy as hell, brutal riffing and wall shaking drums but they definitely save the best till last with ‘blood oath’ a pretty slow one that breaks into some manic shout-alongs before crushing you into a pulp with drawn out chugging heaviness again. V/a – an ocean of doubt, the emo diares chapter four (deep elm) Putting this on i was treated to a minute of feedback with a bit of hi-hat over it, and i was truly expecting ‘multinational corporations’ to blast out. What finally rips through the speakers is five speed, with a pegboy-esque stormer and probably my fave track on here although the quality throughout this comp is amazingly high. Not once was i forced to lunge desperately for the skip button. Other highlights, like peaks in a very high mountain range, include red animal war, further seems forever and spy versus spy. If the previous three chapters were this good then this is a series to collect no matter what. By a thread – the last of the daydreams (revelation) I had this playing on the pc while i was doing something else and i was thinking it a bit weird that every now and again they kept going ‘screw you guys!’ then i realised the cartman screensaver had kicked in, anyway, this disc is pretty cool. Heartfelt melodic post hardcore, mid paced with soaring vocals and a kind of big sound. You hear some old school influences with some of the chugging riffs which are set off with some clean slow introspective pieces and i like the guys voice, sounds familiar but i can’t place it. Cross my heart – s/t (deep elm) Out of the package that john at deep elm sent over this is definitely my favourite out of the three bands. Whilst still in this issues overused definition ‘emo’ these guys actually write songs with a keen pop sensibility, and a good hook gets me every time. Pity this is only 6/7 songs, i’ll be keeping an ear out for more from these guys. V/a-four on the floor (panic button) Four bands, four songs from each, screeching weasel, moral crux, enemy you and the teen idols.they all tread the same path as screeching weasel to a certain extent. Sw themselves turn in a thirty second song and three pretty cool tunes, i still totally love everything they put out. Moral crux ‘s first two are rockin In a ramonesy/sw way and their last two are totally lame, it sounds like a different singer. Enemy you sound like early bad religion, same harmonies and that, but it does sound fucking great. Teen idols play fast paced punk rock that brims with enthusiasm, which doesn’t mean they’re a sloppy mess cuz they’re tight like but you can hear the energy being generated. They rock! So, a cool disc overall, pity about moral crux, i thought they were a political hardcore band from the eighties, y’know totally raging, but oh well. The pits-black whole cds (bunker) Play faster please. If this was on vinyl i’d be checking the motor on the turntable cuz it sounds like it’s playing a few rpm slower than it should. 77 style punk rock, vocal sneer intact as well. I think they need to get some amphetamines coursing through their veins, pick it up a bit. Catchy enough, that fucking "”i am, i am..."”chorus stuck in my head for days. Dogpiss-eine kliene punkmusik (honest don’s) Quite a few of the songs on here were released already on eps through rugger bugger, but judging by the press stuff this release is aimed more at the u.s. “featuring members of snuff and guns’n’wankers!” And “from england, the kids in the u.s. Think that’s cool!” Much the same as g’n’w poppy hardcore injected with a bit of thrash metal guitar. They just seem to effortlessly roll off great song after great song. The greatest being mad dog. All together now: “na na na, whoa oh oh, bollocks to it all!” Senseless things-the singles (epic) You gotta get this, the things were just class. Cool tunes, cool vibe, one of, if not the best pop punk band the uk ever produced. 18 tracks on here covering basically their whole career, totally essential tracks like “fishing at tescos”, “easy to smile”, “christine keeler” and “too much kissing” even though it’s the rerecorded version it’s still one of the best songs you are ever going to hear. I can not urge you enough to check this band out. So what are ya waiting for? Diesel boy-sofa king cool (honest don’s) I thought these guys were going to be a bit of a generic u.s. Fat band along the lines of lagwagon, y’know speedy, tuneful and ultimately bland. But hey they sound a bit more like the porcelain boys, so they obviously take their cues more from big drill car and the descendents than nofx, which is a good thing cuz i think it’s pretty obvious these days that only nofx can play nofx. Good riddance-operation phoenix (fat) Fourth album from this lot and i would say the best so far but they’ve been so consistently amazing it doesn’t hold true i’ll just settle for: this is the newest ‘best hardcore album ever’ they play with such passion and sing about subjects that melodic punk seems to be forgetting about these days, they blow me away. This is one of those records everyone should own. Hard-ons-the best of the…(citadel) Oh boy! Over two hours of the hard-ons in one compact package that extends over forty six songs. The hard-ons were the punk gods of over driven, over loud guitar wanking. Inspiring numerous air guitar sessions in the teenage enzk offices. The beauty of the hard-ons was they took simple breezy pop tunes and then blew the fuck out of them with distortion saturated metal guitar turned up way past ten. I was in heaven when i got to see them live twice in one week when they came to scotland, especially when they played with the senseless things in edinburgh… Well i got dragged away there by jacque to go get a video, its about six hours later and i’m wrecked. This album rocks, and i totally want to turn it up strap on my guitar and blast it out. But it’s a tad late, i got neighbours and most importantly, swift death would follow from jacque. So get this album and be an axe wielding headbanging kid again, it’s great. The hard-ons are now back and ready to rock our world again, new albums and eps to come and this comp. Is the perfect reminder of past glory to whet our appetite for what’s to come. I hope this makes sense tomorrow. Common rider-last wave rockers (panic button) Is it possible to not mention op ivy when reviewing this disc? Obviously not, but then i don’t think it’s too great a hindrance. Jesse michaels wrote most of op ivy’s stuff and you still hear it here but he’s toned down now, slower and less frenetic with an almost spiritual feel, the pure reggae influence is quite strong throughout although it only gets crap on “rough redemption” where the vocals are like bad 80’s white rap. Guttermouth-gorgeous (nitro) I hate guttermouth. Not cuz they’re crap but cuz they’re good, it’s just a shame that they open their mouths sometimes. As the music goes i like it. Fast and abrasive with snotty, obnoxious vocals it’s great. However the lyrical content is dire. Is there really a need for the likes of “you fuckin’ lied about your birth control. I don’t want a baby and my answer won’t be maybe. that thing inside you makes me sick, in a perfect world you would get the brick” Basically, no. The ivy crown - …after so much red wine (systematic labour) This is great, kind of like a mellower get up kids with male/female vocals. The rhythms they use make them stand out from the pack and even though some of the songs are pretty long I don’t find my attention wandering as it is prone to do once songs start hitting the 5 minute mark. Capture the flag – time and again (CTW) Oh wow! Just listen to this, energy, emotion, tunes, what a fucking great sound. This is probably album of the issue. These guys mix up descendents, get up kids and I don’t know… face to face. I cannot urge you enough to get hold of this cuz it’ll make your day, hell your week! Mad Caddies – duck and cover (fat) They’ve definitely got a distinctive edge to their brand of ska punk with a 20’s charleston style trumpet on some of the tracks here. They span the whole genre though from all out punkers to slow ska/reggae it’s all upbeat and fun with great tunes, party music. Stillwell – seven song e.p. (rebound) I can’t get into this it’s too subdued and quiet. The sort of stuff that would have been in the indie section of the chart show in 88. The sound is too sparse as well, maybe if they filled it out a bit more… V/A – take action (sub city) As with all compilations your never going to like everything on them but this comes pretty close to it. There’s fifteen tracks and only two get the skip treatment. The rest is amazing U.S. (except Funeral Oration : Dutch.) punk hardcore from the likes of Fifteen, FYP, Kid Dynamite, Dillinger Four and more.
Himsa – ground breaking society (revelation) AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG! What the fuck?! This starts like your cd player is fucking up and then pummels you with some totally ferocious aggressive noise interspersed with some truly disturbing frequencies. It’s a bit of a challenge to listen to, I think they set out to cause aural pain and fuck with your head. It’s also very metal influenced I can hear slayer in there and even some of those galloping maiden bass runs. I think I’d have to be in a really bad mood to listen to this although I do feel one coming on. Now everyone sing along: “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG!”
P.A.I.N. featuring howard marks – let me grow more weed (iron man) Ay carumba and I thought Himsa were trying to fuck with my head. A song in favour of cannabis so guess what style of music they choose? Yep reggae, what a fuckin surprise. The other 2 songs are fast anarcho punk affairs with a bit of sax and way better.
Jessica six – all good things (act your age/highwater) This band is no more which is a shame cuz this is such a good record. Smooth pop songs with a rough production and a bit of punky guitar, brings to mind early superchunk. You always hear these great bands when it’s too late, but better late than never.
Starmarket – Sunday’s worst enemy (pop kid) Sometimes I amaze myself. I seem to have lost this cd between the stereo downstairs and the computer upstairs. All I’m left with is the box and I could have sworn I took it out the cd player, put it in the box, which I put with the other stuff for review and brought it all upstairs. Now it’s gone. But where? This happened to ‘operation phoenix’ as well. There must be some strange cd eating monster lurking in my house, which wouldn’t be all bad if it didn’t have such damn good taste in music. So reviewing something I listened to yesterday before a shitload of other stuff… Starmarket rock, not as in spandex and poodle hair but as in loud guitars and powerful vocals mixed with fragile melodies and topped with a gravelled edge that would make it a repeat player if you knew where it was.
Parachute – pocket jukebox (fortune and glory) Ok where’s the goddamn cd eating creature now?! This is fucking awful. If anyone ever sends me anything like this again I’m going to give my cats beef flavour whiskas and force feed the culprit the resultant sludge. Then I’ll stab them. Can’t be too safe.
Consumed – hit for six (fat) Thanks for the gross sleeve lads, much appreciated opening the post first thing in the morning and finding that. Lucky they make up for it with some great songs. I was kind of dithering about going to Ensign or the Fat tour this clenches it, glasgow on dec 2nd. What puts this above the pack of melodic punk bands these days has got to be the vocals, tuneful but still with a snarl and bite about them. They’d better be good live as well or else.
V/a – go kart vs the corporate giant II (go kart) Go kart have got a great roster here, Anti-flag, Down By Law, Parasites, Boris, Pinkerton Thugs and more, 25 tracks about 5 quid and everyone a winner even the Buzzcocks song is cool, ah memories… so, geez, a compilation where I’ve liked everything on it! Sorry I’ve got to check out the window and see if there’s blue snow or missiles falling from the sky.
Thumbtack – 7” and demo stuff ( Pete Woodward, 1814 N. High St. Apt. B, Columbus, OH 43201, USA Oh yeah I’ll go for this. Melodic punk rock that sometimes sounds so like Pegboy/Naked Raygun and the rest almost like the more straight ahead All stuff, so I don’t know if it’s two different vocalists? Whatever it’s great.
17 stitches – demo (contact skipworth) Old school UKHC with a streetpunk edge. Think along the lines of Heresy/Concrete Sox type of thing, fast, vaguely tuneful and pretty damn cool.
Avail – 100 times e.p. (fat) 1 new song and 5 re-recorded songs for the European tour, I hadn’t heard any of them before only having ‘over the james’ so I was pretty chuffed when this dropped through the door the morning of the gig, and I can tell you every single song was lodged in my head when they hit that stage and I had been at work all day and only listened to this twice before we left. That’s the thing with Avail they capture a bucket load of energy and aggression but still write songs that are so damn catchy it’s unbelievable, the only other band that comes close to that is Good Riddance, now that would make for a blinder of a gig.
Scuttle – Demo (contact: flat 1, 134 Tarring Road, Worthing, West Sussex, BN11 4HA The first song on this is fucking great a kinda subdued melodic hardcore tune that explodes into a shouty chorus that’s real cool. Unfortunately the next song doesn’t do it for me, reminds me of Neds Atomic Dustbin for some reason, it’s alright but not great. The last three are however. cool melodic almost dc ish hardcore. A band to keep an eye on.
The SikNotes – High school punk rock (rocky road) Speedy pop punk that draws from all the generic influences: SW, Queers etc with vocals more akin to McCrackins. Whilst not breaking any musical boundaries (I can’t remember this genre ever stating such an intent) it is well played and catchy and as such goes down well with me.
Grampus Eight/Dina – Split cd (get it from the dina address in the main reviews) Basically read the reviews of the bands demos. The Grampus 8 stuff hasn’t got the strange drum sound as much but after seeing them live the production here doesn’t do them any justice. Live the sound was awesome, a lot fuller and in your face. The songs are great but they need that much beefier sound to let them truly shine.
Rydell – Home 7”(Fire walk with me) This is four tracks of semi acoustic almost country tinged melancholia, it’s good stuff but I’d have to be in the right mood for it, I reckon I’d prefer full electric versions.
Planes mistaken for stars - Knife in the marathon (Deep Elm) Five tracks here of powerful and intense hardcore with screamed vocals that still keep a tunefulness to them. Maybe similar in style to Avail overall but less of a rock edge.
