Installing a Game:
After you download the compressed file, you have to extract it. Do this by right-clicking the file and selecting "Extract All". After it is extracted, click the extracted setup program to intstall it. Then extract all from the zip file that was extracted before. Inside the zip file is a progam called "trans 2". You run this to play the game!
Game instructions: You use the keyboard for most of the game actions, such as moving (use the arrow keys). When words pop up on the screen you can press any key on the keyboard to get rid of the words. There are four times, however, that you will use the mouse. The first time is when you start the game. You will have to select whether you want to start a new game or play a saved game. You'll also have to use your mouse when buying items, when using your in-game-menu, and during battles.
During certain parts of the games, you will be given the option to purchase things with your hard earned money (earned through battles). A shop menu will show up with all the items available for purchase. At the top of the screen you can see how much GP (money) you have, how much your purchase will cost, and you can select how much of an item you'd like to buy. It is really very simple. You can also sell items at any shop.
The in-game-menu can be more complicated. Press "enter" when not in a battle or at a store, and your menu will pop up. From there you are given several options.
If you have bought an equippable item, like weaponry or armor, click the equip button to equip things to certain parts of your character (or ship). Double click a body part for a list of items you have which can equip to that body part.
Another option from the menu is the Items button, which allows you to use one-time-only items such as health bonuses. This is simple.
The Abilities button does nothing. You can just ignore it.
The Details button lets you see all of the stats for your character/ship, such as AP (attack), DP (defense), and other things.
The Customize button lets you change the speed settings of your game. It is suggested that you bring your character's speed down one notch so he won't move so jerkily, but you should probably just leave everything else as it is.
You can also save your game from the menu, and load a saved game.
Battles: Battling involves the use of your mouse. Your character will be shown on the left, your enemies on the right. To attack an enemy, double click "fight" and then double click the name of one of your enemies. Be careful not to attack yourself. To use an item in a battle, such as a health power-up or a bomb, double click "item" and double click your own name if using a health power-up, or an enemy's name if using a bomb. Again, be careful not to use bombs on yourself or health on the enemy. There is no way to pause during a battle, and your enemy will hit you several times if you leave your computer, so be careful.
In "Admiral of the Seas" you are given the option to use a launcher which fires either a cannon barrage or a spread shot. Double click "Launcher" to use the launcher, then double click the name of the attack you wish to use (cannon barrage does 100 damage to one enemy, spread shot does 40 damage to all enemies). You are limited to one launcher attack until you get your launcher reloaded at a friendly harbor. As with the "fight" and "item" commands, be careful not to use the launcher on yourself.
Well, now that that's taken care of, I'll briefly decribe the games to you:
Hermit Crab is an RPG game that takes place in the future. You are essentially a person-sized hermit crab who wanders around on a planet in the process of being colonized. Fighting includes fighting native space bugs, annoying thieves, the Tournament Champions (should you choose to enter the tournament), and rebelling citizens. You can buy Items to make your game easier (such as guns, bombs, and healers). Unlike most RPGs, this game doesn't include any magic spells or wizards and witches and ghosts and goblins, etc.
Version 1.0 was a demo that did not go any farther than the tournaments. Version 1.0 and 1.1 are not available for download.
Version 1.1 goes northward past the tournaments to the reprisal board and includes a nifty little restaraunt scene.
Version 1.2 is currently the newest version of Hermit Crab. It goes a few boards north of the reprisal and includes a scene with a guy testing his new attack robot...on you!

Admiral of the Seas is a slightly simpler game than "Hermit Crab" but is considered by some to be a better game. You command an old-fashioned sailing ship in a far-away land. Your great nation is at war with the Kingdom Poluba, which recently made an inward thrust at your nation's territory. The Poluban ships are not built quite as well as your nation's, but they make up for it in numbers. The Polubans also hire pirates and privateers to harrass the ships of your country. The only other force in the game is the Elgiumbay Empire, who have a weak navy but a vast amount of supplies. The Elgiumbayans are your allies and will repair your ship(for a price) if you enter their harbor. The ultimate goal of the game is to destroy the Poluban capital by attacking the shore of their country. A great naval combat game using the RPG toolkit which was used on "Hermit Crab."
Version 1.0 had an error in the end program which has been fixed in version 1.1, but both versions had errors in the game-over programs, and a had a few other bugs which have been fixed in version 1.2. 1.2 also introduced the Cannon Barrage and Spread Shot special moves, for more varied gameplay.
