CENTER FOR SUPPORT TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT Initiatives (CE.SS.D.I.)

CESSDI is a non governmental organization with headquarter in Dschang, Republic of Cameroon. The aim of this NGO is to ameliorate the livelihood and promote sustainable development in the Cameroon and African rural-urban milieu.

The objectives of the Association are to:

Undertake information and sensitization actions within the less favoured grass roots communities on problems related to their livelihoods and the management of natural resources;

Create within grass roots communities, the identification, implementation and assessment of community or individual initiatives aimed at fighting against poverty so as to improve their living conditions;

Contribute to the increase in revenue generation within the grassroots populations, especially women;

Encourage rural populations to adopt sustainable practices for the management of natural resources.

Encourage actors engaged in sustainable development activities.
Create and reinforce collaboration ties with government authorities of Cameroon;

Create and reinforce partnership relations with grassroots associations/organisations as well as national and international development programmes.


CESSDI's domain of reflection and action include:

Support to information dissemination
Support to the organisation and structuring of grassroots initiatives.
Education -  elementary attendance and success rate
Support to training
Support, conservation and sustainable management of natural resources
Support to the improvement of the place of the Woman in the community.
Exchange of experiences.

The activities of the association are oriented towards: children, women as a privileged target group - Grouping of farmers (peasants) - Urban organisations - Individual promoters of sustainable development activities.

1. The Bekeutcheu Forest Conservation and Regeneration In Esahnweh Village

2. Seed production and Integrated Management of Cocoyam Root Rot Disease In Lebialem

3. Ecologically Safe Microsites of Ricinoderndron Heudelotti (njangsa) In Befang Village along the Menchurn River Valley Community

4. Tree Planting Requests Received from Schools in Lebialern Division following the violent and destructive storm that hit Lebialem hard on 10 April 2000

5. The Provision of Portable Well Water Supply, Grinding Machine and an Electrical Plant and the Maintenance of a Poultry Farm project Submitted by A Blind Common Initiative Group in Dschang
