Over this creek, there are a couple fallen trees. When I first discovered these woods, years ago...these two trees had stood tall, and from the nearer and larger of the two, hung a noose. I'm not sure what this had been used for but it looked rather old. I, as well as other people before me (I imagine) used this rope to swing across the the tree on the other side of the creek. It used to be the only way to get across, although now they have built a rode a block or two down, over it. A couple years later I returned to find the noose gone, and the tree felled over the creek, forming a perfect bridge. It's very sturdy, and if not slippery from rain, can be crossed quite easily. I once fell asleep at the top of this 'bridge' and was awakened by squirrels crossing it to the side of me, centimeters from my fingertips. I'd never felt so much a 'part' of nature before. I was invisible to it, not a thing that stuck out or didn't belong, but a part of it...and was able to witness what goes on when humans aren't present :) To get a few of these photographs, I crawled up on the tree bridge, rather carefully...because it was raining, making the tree very slippery this time of year. You can see another smaller fallen tree in the background. This one doesn't make such a great bridge, except for my little friends, the squirrels and chipmunks.

Bridge to another realm?
