1. First off, how is life being in a band that is signed by Relapse Records? Chief: I must say that things are going really well right now. Relapse has done a fabulous job promoting the record, and this contributes to the success of the album. We hope to have a lasting relationship with those guys.
2. When it comes to your CD's and merchandise (selling and creating it), how much control is there from Relapse that tells you what you can and can't do? Chief: We control our own merchandise and the creative aspect. We worked close with Relapse on the design for the "Nephren-Ka" album and merchandise. It just so happens that Relapse has a great graphic design artist named Adam Peterson. We just sent him a box full of idea's and he went from there. We actually were very pleased with the first design he came up with. As far as the selling of the album Relapse just does a great job promoting. I mean, I couldn't pick up a magazine for at least six months after the album came out and not see an ad for NILE. That's just kick-ass promotion!
3. At your concerts, do the crowds seem to have any favorite Nile songs yet? Any song that is killer to mosh to or anything like that? Chief: Everyone seems to like "Serpent Headed Mask" and "Ramses: Bringer of War". These two songs really get the crowd moving.
4. Have you gotten use to touring yet? Is it all that it is said to be? Chief: Touring is something we had wanted to do for a long time. It's the only way to make a name for yourself in this type of music. You really have to take the music to the people. We finally got a chance to do some extwensive touring and we fucking love it. It does take some time and patience to do, but once you get in that groove it's alot of fun.
5. Now that you are signed to a label and have an album out, are there any plans to alter your style of music at all? Chief: We are hiring Bob Rock to record our next album, and are going to get James Hetfield to do all the vocals. Also the next record will be all cover tunes like "My Sharona", and "Cat Scratch Fever"(just fuckin around). Actually we won't change a thing!!!!!!!
6. Is Relapse giving you a dealine for the next album? Chief: Relapse is letting us make our own decisions as to when we release the next album. It looks like it will be Sept/Oct '99 release.
7. Tell us about your upcoming tour.... Chief: We will start with a mini tour on Feb. 25 with Monstrosity, which leads into the supporting spot on the Morbid Angel Spring Tour. This will be about twenty-two shows going from New Orleans to California. Immediately following we will begin our first North American headlining tour which will run up until the end of April. This includes some Canadian dates.
8. Well, thanks for doing this "update" interview. Is their anything else that you would like to add? Chief: Thanks for the support bro, and keep up the good work. Check out our web-site at http://members.xoom.com/nile and the soon to come official page http://www.nile-catacombs.com. Until next time STAY FUCKIN METAL!!!
