Cassidy Talks Jail Respect 50 Cent "Beef"

After being incarcerated for eight months on an involuntary manslaughter conviction, Cassidy is free and eager to work. In this SOHH.com exclusive, the Philadelphia emcee talks about getting respect in jail and addresses the rumored feud with 50 Cent. In June 2005, Cassidy turned himself into Philadelphia authorities on murder charges. Reports revealed that Cass (born Barry Reese) and two other men fatally shot Desmond Hawkins and critically wounded two others during an April 15th incident. After being denied bail, having hearings postponed and seeing his murder case dropped and then reinstated, Cassidy was eventually convicted of involuntary manslaughter earlier this year. ... Now free, Cassidy says he commanded respect among inmates while behind bars. "The way I carry myself, nobody ain't gon mess with me in the streets or in the jail," Cassidy told SOHH exclusively. "You're always liable to get into a confrontation no matter who you is. Cats will try you even if you're Mike Tyson. But in the jail, I pretty much was carrying myself in way where I demanded respect. I had a lot of respect and a lot of love. "There was probably dudes that was hating, but always behind the scenes, never face to face," he added. "I ain't get into no altercation, no fights. [I] got into a few arguments, but that comes along with the territory." Prior to being locked up, a feud appeared to be bubbling between Cass and 50 Cent. After trading warning shots via interviews, the Philly battle rapper poked fun at 50 in his "B-Boy Stance" video. The Queens rapper later responded by mocking Cass in his "Piggy Bank" clip. Still, Cassidy asserts that there's no beef. "It ain't no conflict. It ain't no beef. It's Hip-Hop," Cassidy revealed as he sat in Swizz Beatz's Manza Studios. "We were just having fun. It's just fun, just comedy. I know what real beef is in the streets. We don't even see each other. When we do stuff like that, it's just for fun on my side. I don't got no problems with 50. He got a successful career and I wish him and his whole team the best. He do him and I'mma continue to do me. It ain't no love lost. It ain't no problems between me and him." Source: SOHH
