Disclaimer: Ok all the muise has struck again and as rules dictate, in order to keep her from runningoff
and never coming back I had to give into her whims and write this. This fic picks up where the bachelorette party left off. It's long so it's gonna be posted in two parts. This is the first part and a second one will follow. reviews always welcome, even if you think it sucks!
Thanks to Lyza and Kash for input on this, get ready for a trip to hell. If you recognize the characters then I don't own them, except for Pug and myself of course. LOL A bit of bad language but nothing major. Here we go....
It was very early morning and most everyone had left Guilty Pleasures. Richard was tidying up the bar and some of the leopards were straightening out the stage but most of the others were gone. I
was hoping I could catch Kash before she disappeared too. I found her sitting in Luce's lap leaned back against his chest with her eyes closed. She looked quite comfortable, so much so that I almost
hated to bother her. I spoke her name and she looked up at me with a lazy smile.
"Hiii!" Her eyes were a bit glassy and her speech was slurred but she seemed to be functioning okay mentally.
I pulled up a chair next to her and took a seat. It took me a moment to ask her the question on my mind but I finally found the words I was looking for. "What can you tell me about Pug?"
Her heavy lidded eyes widened. I guess she hadn't expected my topic of discussion. A big grin spread across Luce's face and he spoke before Kash could even get her mouth open. "So you ARE interested in him after all."
I put my hand up. "Just wait a minute. Before I even think about going out with him I need some info on what I could be getting myself into. I won't risk my daughter or myself for a nice looking piece of ass."
Luce raised one eyebrow. "Why didn't you just ask him what you wanted to know?"
"I just met him. He could easily lie to me and I wouldn't know it. Kash is my friend and I know she'll tell me the truth whether I want to hear it or not."
And you know I willlll!" Kash answered with enthusiasm and I couldn't help but laugh. Luce tightened his grip around her waist to keep her from falling. Maybe she was a little drunker than I thought. I was going to have to ask Richard what the hell he had been serving her.
I glanced at my watch, it was 3 AM. "I need to go home and try and get some sleep before I pick up Ashley. Can I call you tomorrow afternoon? Maybe we can talk some more about Pug then?"
Kash nodded her head and immediately looked like she regretted the movement. Luce was gonna have his hands full tonight.
I drove home and the minute my head hit the pillow it was lights out. I felt like I'd been hit by a mack truck when I had to reach over towards the nightstand and grab the phone before it could ring again. "Hello?" My voice sounded gruff and still full of sleep.
"Honey are you okay? Do you know what time it is?"
I opened my eyes and looked at the clock. Oh shit, it was almost noon. "Oh mom, I'm sorry. I got in really late and must have overslept. I'm on my way right now."
Mom's voice sounded a bit worried. "You obviously had a long night last night. Why don't I keep Ashley here a while longer? Your dad and I were thinking about going shopping. We could take her with us."
"You don't have to do that Mom. I can be there in about thirty minutes." I said as I groggily sat up in the bed.
"Nonsense, I insist. You don't sound like you've had enough sleep to be able to handle a two-year-old. I'll call you when we get home and you can pick her up tonight." Before I could utter another word the phone went dead in my ear. It’s mom's way or the highway. I just hope she isn't going to hold this over my head later.
I slept for another hour before finally deciding to get up and take advantage of a child free afternoon. I decided to give KAsh a call. It rang fifteen times before she answered the phone and when she did, her voice sounded as groggy as mine had earlier. She wasn't very appreciative when I started laughing at her. "I told you I would call this afternoon? You don't have a hangover do you?" I asked innocently, knowing very well that she did. She groaned and I suppressed another giggle. "Come on, get your butt out of bed. Mom's keeping the baby and I need some inside info on Pug and his job."
"You really want me to tell you about the netherworld don't you?"
"YES, I really want you to tell me about hell. I need to know what I could be getting myself...and my daughter into."
She sighed. "OK. I need some time to come alive. Why don't you come over to my house and we'll talk?"
"Sounds good. I'll be there in about an hour." After hanging up the phone and dragging myself out of bed, I took a quick shower and threw on some blue jeans with a yellow tank top. I didn't bother with make-up since I wasn't trying to impress anyone. I threw on my little white sneakers, put my hair up in a ponytail and I was ready to go.
I arrived at her house with ten minutes to spare. I knocked and soon I heard footsteps slowly approaching. Kash opened the door and I suddenly felt bad for making her get out of bed. She was dressed all in black from her T-shirt and jeans, to her black socks and Reeboks. She looked tired and I wondered just how bad a night she had had after leaving the club...if bad at all. The thought made me want to smile but I didn't. She motioned me inside.
"I'm sorry. I should have let you sleep. Maybe we should do this some other time."
She shook her head and grabbed my arm, pulling me into the house. "Oh no you don't, I'm already up and Luce is on his way."
"Why is Luce coming here? I thought maybe just the TWO of us could talk about Pug." I was feeling rather embarrassed at the thought of having to ask the Devil questions about a possible love interest.
"I want you to know what you might be getting yourself into. No one can tell you that better than Luce. I can give you my thoughts on the matter but he can explain it firsthand."
"I figured you'd try to talk me into dating Pug, not try to talk me out of it."
A slight smile adorned her lips as she explained. "Tanya, I'm not trying to talk you out of it. I like Pug. He's a troublemaker and he gets into a lot of mischief but he's not as bad as some of the others. He's one of Luce's best...crewmembers. I just want you to know what kind of baggage comes along with not only dating
him, but also dating a demon. You will have to deal with what he does for a living. If the two of you hit it off there's a big possibility you'll run in to some of the other demons. Some that are not... so nice and I want you to be prepared."
I let that sink in as we headed towards the living room. We sat down and I decided to ask the question that was bothering me most. "Do you think dating Pug will put Ashley in danger? I won't risk her getting hurt!"
She patted my arm for reassurance. "Relax. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about as far as Ashley is concerned." She took a deep breath. "There are a lot of things about the netherworld that most people don't understand. Children are innocent and as much as demons enjoy torturing people their victims have to earn it. Children haven't done anything to earn torture like that. It's kind of like heaven, you have to earn your way inside. If you're evil enough you earn some quality time with Luce and the gang. No one gets anything they don't deserve, Luce sees to that."
"How can you be so sure? Don't you wonder sometimes if Luce isn't lying to you so you'll stay with him?"
She got that cocky smile that showed how much she'd been hanging around with Edward. "Oh I used to think that until he took me on a tour of his ‘workplace’ and I saw things firsthand. That's why Luce is coming over. I want him to show you what it's really like."
I knew the statement on my face showed my shock. Here I was contemplating dating a demon and now, I am about to take a voluntary trip to hell. Could things get any stranger? Don't answer that, I don't want to know. I was about to protest, make up some wild excuse to get myself out of this situation, when Luce materialized in the center of the room. Kash didn't even flinch but I nearly fell off the couch. Luce just smiled at my reaction. "So ladies are you ready to go?"
He held his right hand out to Kash and she gladly took it. He pulled her to her feet and she put her arms around him. He reached towards me with the other hand and my unease turned to fear. Kash laughed. "He won't bite. Take his hand. You have to have physical contact in order to travel with Luce...or any of the demons
for that matter.
I held out my hand and I noticed it was slightly shaking as I placed it in Luce's. My mind was working a mile a minute. My mom would absolutely die if she ever found out that I actually met the Devil himself AND went on a trip with him...willing no less. I was still worrying when I finally noticed the room we were just standing in had disappeared. A minute ago we were in Kash's living room and now we were standing in a large lavishly decorated hallway that seemed to go on forever. The walls and carpet were done in a tasteful solid golden color. Every few feet there was a door. None of them were labeled and they all looked alike. I pulled back from Luce and shook my head to clear it. I felt slightly dizzy but the feeling left as quickly as it had come. I looked at our surroundings. "Where in the hell are we?"
"Exactly!" Luce replied with a satisfied look on his face.
I looked at him, still a little confused. "What?"
"Hell," he stated nonchalantly. "That is where we are."
"NO WAY! This looks more like a hotel."
Kash laughed and I turned to stare at her. She regained her composure and then spoke. "You know, that was my first reaction too. This isn't what you expect hell to look like, is it?" I nodded in agreement.
