Frost tried his best to keep the emotions he was feeling from showing on his face, while his brain rushed through the gambit of feelings. 'I could actually be a father,'was the first thought he had after hearing the message on the answering machine. Following on the heels of that thought was that he might actually finally have Merry all to himself and be able to rule beside her as king of the Dark Court. Just as he was getting started thinking along this track the bubble burst when he thought,'What if I'm not the father, what am I going to do if Merry has to marry on of the other guards?' 'I don't think I can go back to court and serve as her guard and watch her with one of the other guys, I only share her now because I don't have a choice. If she has to marry one of the others, I won't even be able to touch her again. I don't think I can live with that.' he thought miserably. He knew that he didn't have to worry that Doyle was the father, because Doyle hadn't spent a night with Merry since they came back from court. Doyle had given him the nights he was supposed to spend with Merry in favor of being with Laurella. So that was one person he didn't have to worry about. As to the others, he looked around the room, Galen and Nicca both looked a little sick with worry. He knew that they both knew that they weren't fit to be king. He knew that Pippin had only spent one night with Merry, and he didn't look worried that the baby might be his. Kitto, Frost knew, had been using protection when he and Merry were together, so that left him in the clear. That left only Rhys, and from the look on the Lord of the Deads face it seemed he was mighty pleased that this news could mean big things to him. 'Rhys you could be big trouble.'Frost mused
