Unidentified Flying Objects

Try out our message board to communicate with us. You may also post sightings there.

Unidentified Flying Objects are assigned to the religious studies section because UFOs have a kind of cult following.

But why UFO's?
Oh, come on now. We are only three hours from Roswell, New Mexico, home of the Alien Museum. And of course, Levelland, Texas has had its own sightings.

So, watch this page for upcoming reports on local sightings.

UFO's In Levelland

Published by

The Weird Place
Only three hours from Roswell, New Mexico lies the little town of Levelland, Texas.
Levelland has chosen to hide its involvement with UFO sightings over the last several years.
A small town of conservative Christian background, the inhabitants do not speak of the UFO sightings. The sightings remain a fairly well hidden occurrence.
The following reports are representative of the local sightings. People have understandably requested to not have their name or addresses included; fictitious names will be used.

Report of March 1989, William Peters
I had been to the movies over in Lubbock and was on my way home in Levelland about midnight on a Saturday. I had to drive through our little downtown square to get to the house. As I passed the old jail house building, it was like someone turned on really bright lights all over the square. It was almost like daylight.
I stopped at the red light and tried to see where the light was coming from. It was high overhead, so I pulled over to the side of the street and parked. I got out and looked up over the courthouse in time to see a silvery disk floating about two hundred feet over the building. Lights coming out of the underside of the disk lit up the entire square.
There was no noise coming from the UFO so it was kind of strange to see it just sitting there and not moving. I looked all around the square and didn't see anyone else. After a few minutes a car pulled up along side mine and a couple jumped out and came running up to me. So, I was not nuts if other people saw the craft too.
We stood and watched the craft for another ten minutes before it suddenly just shot straight up and disappeared in the blink of an eye. We were immediately surrounded by the normal lighting conditions of the downtown area.
I asked the couple to hang around while I called the local police to come to take a report. The couple must have had something to hide because they say they did not want to file a report and look like weirdoes. I took their advice and went on home and kept my mouth shut, waiting to see if any reports would follow over the next few days. None did. I stayed quiet until now.
I refuse to believe that no one else saw this incredible sighting. I think everyone is simply afraid. In a town of our size, people talk and this is just the kind of thing to label a person for years to come.
But I know what I saw. I know at least one couple, who also saw the UFO, so I don't doubt what I saw.
I am a successful businessman here in town, but there's no way I would risk my reputation by letting people know about what I saw.
Believe it or not. It's your choice.

Report of 1995, Michael J.
Michael J. reported a sighting of a strange craft in June of 1995. He and his brother were out on their farm working in a cotton field when Larry noticed a brilliant light in the sky over the south end of the field.
They described the light as being smaller than the sun and not quite as bright. You could look directly at it without the light hurting your eyes. It appeared to be just floating in one place. It remained motionless for a full ten minutes. It finally started moving slowly coming right toward the two men. They could not see any rotation and could not hear any engines and yet the light was only about a thousand feet up. Michael J. called his wife on his mobile phone and told her to look out toward the field. She looked and asked him what the bright light was. So it was visible from their house two miles away.
The brothers report that the light, craft, or whatever it was slowly began to move toward the south and then all at once just sped off at a high rate of speed. The brothers were left standing there wondering if they had really seen the light at all.
The family was afraid to report what they had seen. They fully expected to see reports, or at least hear other people mention it, but they never heard any mention of it in the news or from their neighbors. The cotton field is reported to be more productive since the sighting, yielding approximately twenty percent more cotton per acre. They only report it now with our guarantee of complete privacy.

Report of 2001, Belinda Nelson
Belinda Nelson was alseep in her home on a Sunday night. About 2 am, she was awakened by a sound that she described as low, whirring, and kind of irritating. It was just loud enough to wake her up, but she said she tried to go back to sleep and the noise continued. She finally got up and walked to her son's bedroom to see what kind of racket he was playing on his boom box. He was in bed asleep and his boom box was not even turned on. Next, she checked her daughter's room. Of course that stereo was on, but to a country music station, playing honky-tonk music, but nothing like the noise that woke her up.
When she got back to the living room, she could once again hear the noise. This time, she was more awake and could tell the noise was outside. The noise kind of reminded her of the cotton gins during ginning season. But they were closed at this time of the year.
She opened the front door and stepped outside. She was sure it was probably an inconsiderate neighbor playing their stereo too loud. The sound was much louder and as she looked straight up over her house, the sound grew much louder. The night was moonless, but over her house appeared a light similar to the moon, but it was spinning and making a sound that had a lulling effect. She became dizzy and had to sit down. The last thing she remembers is seeing the light flashing bright colors of red, blue, an green. She woke up in her bed the next morning with a headache. She did notice that over the next week her vision improved and she was able to stop wearing her glasses, which she had worn most of her life.
