Quest for the Rose

Chapter 13
All the girls were now crowded round the mirror. “How can they not know who they are? They’re Nick and Brian!” asked Leigh, grabbing another cookie, feeling more like she was watching a movie then another world. “These aren’t them, Hun,” corrected Anna “Lygia said their names are different and so are their personalities.” “Oh… well, still! Why don’t they know who they are?” “Sshhh!” came the reply from the four others as the mirror fallowed the young men through the dark woods. “I think I hear water!” whispered Hanna. “I think I hear water!” said the taller of the two men. Laughter erupted from the girls. The men walked on to the direction of the water and soon found a large river. They walked along it, hoping to find signs that they were not alone. Then stopped as faint singing could be heard up stream. “That voice sounds awfully familiar…” noted Taylor as the boys cautiously approached the music, staying well hidden in the trees. There, in another clearing, were two maidens. All of the girls gasped as they looked into the glass. It was Lorri and Lygia. “How did Lygia get there?!?” Anna shouted. “Probably the same way she got in last time,” suggested Hanna. “Why don’t we try?!?” They all went down the stairs, and made their way as fast as they could to Lorri’s old house.
The young men smiled as they watched the girls, one singing and making a daisy chain, the other reading a book. “Maybe they know where we are?” said the smaller man as they both still hid in the thick forest. When he did not receive an answer, he looked to see his young companion smitten with one of the girls. The one that was singing. A gleam came into his eyes, as he watched him watching the girl. He shoved his new friend into the stream, then ducked back into the woods even before the splash was heard.
Both girls jumped up, their voices catching in their throats. Up came the young man, shaking his head violently, gasping for air and shaking his head. Both girls looked at each other, then to the sopping wet man (who’s blue eyes showed the embarrassment that coursed through his body). He smiled shyly, pushing some of his blond locks out of his face, and asked, “Could you maids tell me where I am?” and both girls began to laugh.
