All the other girls were told to go home and when Safire did not immerge, they knew there plan had worked. Safire had been chosen. “Well, I guess it’s back to the woods,” whispered Lygia. She was glad to leave the moldy old place, but heartbroken at leaving her two friends behind. They walked around the city a bit, trying to find things that might come in handy for the rest of the plan. Soon, they found themselves at the foot of the gates. They all sighed, then turned, to find of all things, Striker running towards them. “I am… hear to help,” he said breathlessly. He stood a moment, just staring. The girls wondered if he had seen something, but before they could ask him anything, he fell to the ground. “Oh, gosh!” Amy fell to the ground, lifting his head. “I am fine,” He gasped, trying to rise up, but Amy held him down. “Is Lorri still in there? What of Safire?” “Shhh… calm down. Safire was chosen to wed the prince and yes, Lorri is still in there.” “I must get to her!” he tried to lift himself, but was pushed back by Lygia. “You are not going anywhere. What? Did you ride all night? You look awful! I mean…!” Dayna stopped and just laughed at her own expense, as did all the others. “I’ve got to see her!” This time, Lygia, Dayna and Amy had to hold him down. He pouted, reminding Lygia of one of Lorri’s favorite pictures of Nick Carter. “Come on. You are not going to storm the castle all-alone. Amy wanted to stay too, so you two find an inn somewhere and we’ll ride back to Hawkins” they were careful not to say the Black Fox, for in this town, who knows who might be listening. Defeated, he agreed. “All right. Travel safely”

Dayna and Lygia road slower than they wanted to because of there dresses. “That tares it!” shouted Dayna. She slipped off her horse, grabbed her backpack and ran behind a tree. Lydia smiled as she caught on to what her friend was doing. Likewise she took her bag as well and ran to another tree. They both laughed and grunted and soon jumped out in their normal outfits. “Much better” sighed Lygia and ran onto her horse, riding as fast as it could carry her, Dayna doing the same. “We’ll be there before sun down!!” laughed Lygia. And so they were and were warmly welcomed. “But where are Safire and Amy” asked the Fox. “Sir, our plan has worked. Safire has been chosen as the princes match and as Hawkins has told you, Lorri the baron’s. But Amy has stayed to make sure Striker does not do something foolish” The tall man laughed. “And that he is prone to do. Come, your horses need rest, just as I am sure you do. Hawkins was about to give us another song” Dayna looked up at the young entertainer and remembered her dream. He smiled once he saw her.
