My Poems

Occasionally I decide to share a few of the notes that come from me at the end of the day or when I'm in a thoughtful mood. I'll leave these couple with you for now

New Start Winter Battle Receiver of the Black Rose

New Start

It surrounds the girl and laughs
The ink on the paper standing out
The white of the paper even more so
She looks around herself
And surveys so many years of her life
All in the lines around her
All in the gaps
She stands up and leaves the room
Leaves the years
Leaves the ink
Leaves the gaps
Finds a new room
Some new pens
A fresh pad
A new floor
A fresh space in her head
And sits down to begin anew.

Winter Battle

Red is piercing my third eye
It is moving with the wind
And it warns me of the cold
White is growing nearer
And I stiffen at the thought
This time tomorrow I may be lost
But still I try to prepare
Find the woollen armour
Stock up on fuel
This time it might be different
As gunshots crack my windowpane
I know battle has begun.

Receiver of the Black Rose

You looked me in the eye
And told me all would be okay
You handed me a single black rose
For me to remember the day
You said you had forgiven me
Yet I watched you walk away
And now I lie awake at night
Not knowing the meaning of another day
