The girls in t.A.T.u keep on shocking.
Okej Magazine, May 2003
Article by Åse Persson.
Translation and comments in [italic]: J Hansson

They've sold over five million copies of their debutalbum 200 km/h in the wrong lane and have shocked the entire world with their provocative image. Now t.A.T.u is heading to something as extravagant as the Eurovision Song Contest. Question is: Is Europe ready for this?

Russian t.A.T.u tries it's best to keep shocking the world even though this lessie-image is dying. Espcially after Julia's boyfriend Anton Khrulev openly told the Brittish press about their sex life.
-Julia told me the lesbian thing was mearly an image to make lots of money, he says.
-We sometimes had sex up to six or seven times a day, Anton continues. For some reason he keeps talking in past tense - so they may not be together anymore? Who knows...

Well, t.A.T.u is about to defend their country in Eurovison Song Contest in Riga, May 24, with their song Ne Ver', Ne Boisya [Don't Believe, Don't Ask, Don't Be Afraid]. Is it about the girls privat life perhaps...?
When OKEJ was printed t.A.T.u was the leading act on the pre-voting list of ESC in Britain. But no one can tell what will happen the day of the contest.
By then the girls may have time to be in another scandal or at least spread a couple of rumours about their sexual orientation, or something equally interesting. Their manager Ivan Shapalov is aware of the fact that it takes a lot more than a couple of pretty girls and a couple of good songs to hit it big nowdays.
So far Julia and Lena have made about 50 million skr [i.e $6.25 million, £4.1 million]. The single All The Things She Said have sold 13 million copies world wide, and it's mostly because of their provocative video.
Earlier this spring t.A.T.u "dared" to wear t-shirts with anti-war slogans (although in Russian, but still) when they performed live at Jay Leno's american talkshow. If the producers of this show had known anything of what the slogans meant they would've never let the girls wear them... But then, the girls would probably gladely performed topless and would've made even bigger headlines anyway...
