Cocky or not, the girls in t.A.T.u seems to like to provoke. But there might hide two tender people underneath that attitude after all. Love and friendship are two very important things for both Yulia and Elena.
-Love is everything. He who has not loved has not lived, Yulia says seriously.

Now that Valentine's day is here people tend to be more loving. If there's any truth behind t.A.T.u's statments is quite difficult to judge. But it seems like they have thought a lot about life's greatest mystery.
-There's people who has never felt love. They may not need it, but I find that very hard to believe. Love is the most important thing; although there are lots of different kinds of love. For example the love for ones parents. That's different. You still love them even if they sometimes act very stupidly. I believe all kinds of love are good for us, Elena says in an interview on the internet homepage.
It was the parents love that really got tested in the beginning of t.A.T.u's career. It wasn't easy for Yulia and Elena to come out and explain to their parents they were in love with eachother.
-Our parents were shocked. They couldn't understand that their daughter was in love with another girl. They tried to ground us and keep us from seeing eachother, Elena says.
But it wasn't until they saw the music video that they understood.
-When they saw us kiss they asked me if that was what I wanted to do, or if it was something we did because we were told to do it. We had a discussion at home and I said: "Mum, I love Yulia." It was hard but they finally understood. They help us a lot now. We are their children and they want us to be happy, Elena says.
There's no doubt they like eachother; even if you believe it's nothing but a publicity stunt.
-I like everything about Elena. Sure, no one is perfect. But if I would describe her with one word only it would be "original", says Yulia, and Elena agrees.
-Same with me. I like Yulia because she's herself. There's pros and cons of course. We're together and we'll stay together because we fit.
[-If only we had more fingers to show, then we might be able to shock the world for real...]
The girls have certainly made it a lot easier for other teen lesbians, in Russia and outside, to have the strength to stand up for themselves. Even if most people are shocked or frown at their relationship.
Even Elena's grandmother (dad's side) was relieved when she heard the news
-When I told my grandmother about being a lesbian she said "Oh dear child. I am so happy for you. You live in the modern world. I had feelings for girls myself when I was young, but I couldn't say anything. It wasn't accepted back then", says Elena.
