-No making-out on stage, please!
Nu Magazine, May 15-22, 2003

They're still only teenagers and they claim to be gay. Few people believe them. But Russian Tatu keep going strong with their somewhat confusing image, which have resulted in distinct orders from the arrengers of The Euro Vision Song Contest:
We don't want to see you make-out during the show!

No, certainly not. ESC is family entertainment despite what Lena Katina and Julia Volkova, or more likely their fawning manager Ivan Shapovalov, might say. It was one pretty non-cautious comment to the brittish Daily Star that made the arrangers suspicious.

Special orders
There's speculations whether Lena and Julia plan a sexscandal or not during the glamorous grand finale in Riga May 24th.
-We are going to show them something they've never seen before, said the girls and giggled. We are going to rock and tear up the entire foundation of the festival...!
They promised of course to win too.

straddling
["No one is going to dominate us, no one takes charge over us..."]

You can't very well deny the girls a victory, but the other other promises wasn't too pleasing and that's why the arrangers feel the need to set rules for Tatu. And these rules are:
1. You may NOT kiss on stage.
2. You may NOT feel and touch eachother.
3. You may NOT in any other way humiliate the contest and it's great history.
It sure is going to be exciting to see how everything develops, because when Lena and Julia recieved the rules all they did was roared with laughter, mean and very Russian, and say it's pure bullshit. We're talking Tatu, and they are stars and rolemodles, and they do whatever they please - Eurovision or not!

A real cocktail
-Are those nutballs coming to boss over us? Julia say with exaggerated irritation in her voice. Never in my life. No one is going to domineer us, no one rule over us...!
Right.
No one - except Ivan Shapovalov. He charge over everything. Because it's this childrens psychologist and, according to certain statements, pedophile who has created Tatu, their image and their characteristics. A real cocktail with a twist when "All The Things She Said" turned into a massive hit practically all over Europe; and now they rule Eurovision Song Contest with their "No Faith No Belief" - which have been change since it seemed a bit provoking for a familyshow. The concept is so great it's almost a shame it's all fake.
It seems like it though.almost kiss
Lena and Julia are not lesbians. Both have boyfriends - a statement they tried to cover up by saying they're most likely bisexuals.
-We like both girls and boys, they said. Girls are more faithful while boys are more hot. Especially swimmers and martial arts people.
Hmmmm.

It's oozing
Perhaps the shock gets bigger in the former east block and especially Britain, where they have been spared from "Kärlekens Språk" and "Fråga Olle" [note: sw. tv shows. "Language of Love" and "Ask Olle"] and Tatu has gained lots of attention and reached number 1 on the charts. They are giving their everything in Britain at the break of April/May. Tatu are going to perform at Webley Arena May 2nd, and Manchester Evening News Arena the 4th of May.
Even more interesting is the future collaboration with the German band Rammstein, and as their manager calls it, "a very unpredictable project". Also, the ESC May 24th - and the answer to the intricate question "watcha gonna do when the bubble bursts?"
It's not impossible for tatu to win in Riga. But the image Ivan Shapovalov, as the former songwriter/ladylover Elena Kipper has left compromising comments about, has given the girls is oozing more and more for every day. Perhaps it's time for Lena Katina and Julia Volkova to turn their backs - and become their own masters...?
