"The lesbian couple" have - boyfriends
Expressen January 23d 2003
Article by Magnus Alselind.
Translation: J Hansson

London. The girls in the successful Tatu has said they will love eachother until death. In the last video they made out. Now rumours are being spread that both girls have boyfriends.

Julia Volkova, 17, and Lena Katina, 18, have had a massive hit with All The Things She Said and are featured on the soundtrack to Lukas Moodysson's movie Lilja 4-ever. The girls have boosted the attention of the group since they are marketed as lesbian, flirtatious girls. Their hit song has been a constant inhabitant on the Swedish chart Trackslistan.
When they performed at Swedish Hit Music Awards last November, the audience screamed like crazy when Julia and Lena kissed on stage. But now the daily Express reveals it's just a PR thing. None of them are gay according to the Brittish paper. Julia and Elena was picked out of 500 girls to be part of a new girl group a few producers planned to create.

Photographed with the boyfriends
They have been photographed together with male company at a nightclub in Moscow. Julia admits:
-Yes, these are our boyfriends.
The girls still claim they had a relationship.
-You know how it is with feelings ... sometimes they change, and you can't resist any more, Lena says.
But Julia's grandmother, on her mother's side, says:
-That popimage is just made up. Julia has always had boyfriends.
And Lena says she can't see herself in a relationship with another girl:
-I bet we have two normal families with children in about ten years, she says.
