Once again we the see the strength and power of innuendos, gossip and selfish greed. However I have always been of the belief that all politicians the world over, instead of denying accusations should face them right on and have it settled. These issues tend to derail an administration’s agenda and the longer they take to be cleared up the worst it gets.

In this case it is quite possible that there may be some truth to the accusations but it begs a bigger question. What sort of business enterprise were these business men involved in? What was the effect of the Minister’s legislations and policing orders on these supposed legitimate businesses? It is human nature to raise a lot of noise especially when we are involved in actions that are not quite legit; this deflects the public’s attention from the real crime. Is this what we have here? What are the oppositions’ benefits?

I find it strange that the opposition are involved in a lot of hue and cry yet when the escaped prisoners were being hidden in Hoyte’s and Corbin’s homes the many opposition parties were somewhat silent. I guess they were in their infancy then because we all know that babies cannot walk immediately after birth! Oh, maybe they were conceived then and are now in their infancy because babies do make a lot of noise when they cry!!!

We need a proper process to find out the truth of the allegations and either clean the reputation of the home affairs minister or if he is implicated in these very serious allegations and if others are similarly implicated, to ensure that those involved are put before the relevant authorities and subsequently tried and prosecuted. The same applies to the former members of the other administration. They should be held accountable for the actions exercised against the Indian population. They should be made to disclose how they acquired their holdings they currently have.

It is sad that Mr. Gajraj has been implicated by the local media, rights organizations and opposition parties of heading an extra-judicial hit squad that targeted convicts and suspected criminals. In my opinion they should be held accountable for their silence during the mega rape, ravage and plunder days too.

This time, Jagan and his party had the support of the United States, which had seen millions of dollars in foreign aid squandered during People's National Congress rule.

I have concluded that, in my humble opinion, there is not a shred of evidence to make out a prima faci case against the honorable Minister sufficient to warrant an inquiry or investigation. Ninety five percent of the allegations leveled against the Minister are secondary or hearsay evidence, which is not admissible in a court of law. In my view, Mr. Gajraj has suffered a great injustice.
