Growing up without electricity in the backwoods of california, as a child I did a *lot* of reading. I would play bookstore owner, and wanted nothing more than to be a writer. I have carried that with me throughout my life. So when i came into my troubled teenage years and discovered the wide world of punk, discovered a world where I was finally at home, I began collecting things for a zine. Wierd Weather was originally published as Prismatic Psychosis, a title which was inspired by a period of years in my life when i was doing a lot of speed. When, years later, i decided to revamp it, i changed the title and reprinted as WW, with many more current additions. So the first issue of WW was basically my own art, writing, etc., collected over a period of twenty years. The second issue of WW is some of mine, more of others. both issues are xerox printed at my own expense, and are in a folded-in-half 8&1/2 X 11 format. in the future, WW will be coming out with a new look, probably legal size paper folded in half. I am the sole creator of this zine, aside from the contributions I so thankfully receive. Q: What do you ultimatley want to create here? A: The purpose of WW is to create a voice for artists, writers, etc., to express what they find in their hearts. It doesn't have to be perfect, just sincere. I would love for it to become a widely distributed and read zine, a little less street-style, cleaner, yet without losing that flavor. something like Horror Garage, but not quite as 'controlled.' Q: What is the general content of WW? A: WW has all kinds of art, poetry, writing, cartoons, plagerized stuff, strange prints, reprinted street flyers, you name it. It's a hodgepodge of oddities. I accept anything wierd. I would really like to see a section dedicated to suicide letters and things of that nature, real or imagined. Punk, Goth, and Horror are some primary themes. Q: What does the name mean? A: Weird Weather has several meanings, all coming back to your own interpretation and what it means to you. the meanings it has had for me include being a statement about the state of our environment, how our climate is changing, and in a roundabout way how the government is fucking with us through weather control. also i do a lot of dream work, and i have found that certain things i am going through will be represented in my psyche as specific weather patterns. so in it's own obtuse fashion i suppose that WW is a statement. or something. I guess that's about it for now, please go to the link on this page to sign up to WW's Yahoo group as a contributor.
