Voodoo religion of Haiti, it is also practiced in Cuba, Trinidad, Brazil and the Southern United States.

A priest called a houngan, or a priestess called Mambo often leads the rituals of Voodoo.

Voodoo Cults worship a high god, Bon Dieu, the dead, twins, and spirits called Loa. The Loa are African tribal gods that are usually identified with Roman Catholic saints: example the snake god is identified with St. Patrick. During the ritual the worshipers invoke the Loa by drumming, singing, dancing and feasting. The Loa takes possession of the dancers. The dancers then behave as if being taken over by a possessing spirit and while in this trance perform cures and give advice.
