An enormous creature, with huge bat-like wings, webbed feet and no discernible neck. It has blazing red eyes and is grey in colour. It has been said to be about 6-7 feet (1.8-2 metres) in height. It's wing span is about 3 metres (10 feet).
Witnesses:
It has also been sighted in Kent, England in 1963. A group of teenagers one evening, saw a bright yellow light travel across the sky and disappear behind some trees. A few seconds later Mothman appeared out of some undergrowth. The teenagers fled.
Another sighting was in Lothian, Scotland in 1979. The Scots put up a plaque to commemorate this event. But only nine moths later the plaque disappeared and has not been seen since.
Multiple witnesses in West Virginia, USA saw Mothman several times in 1966. It has been seen sometimes alone or sometimes when a UFO encounter is happening. This horrific creature has been known to, by flying, chase people in cars at a speed of around 75 miles per hour. Around 11:30 p.m. on 15 November close to Point Pleasant, Mothman was seen shuffling towards Roger Scarberry, his wife and two friends as they drove by a disused wartime factory. They sped away, accelerating to 160kph (100 mph), but the creature -or perhaps another one- flew after them letting out eerie high-pitched squeaks. However once they neared Pleasant Point it vanished.
Unconfirmed Rumors:
A vagrant specimen of a very tall, grey-plumaged bird called the sandhill crane Grus canadensis.
A giant species of owl called the great owl, booger owl or big-hoot. Owls have large eyes that appear red when shining, which would perhaps explain why Mothman seemed to have red flashing eyes.
Mothman has been said to be:
A paranormal entity, possibly even an interloper from some other dimension in space and time.
