James Betteridge Bio
James started working early, at the age of
9 to be exact, as an Actor. He spent the next 15 years working in Theatre, TV
Shows and Commercials, as well as Movies. In 1979, while on the set of the TV Series
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, James had what can best be called an epiphany. He saw the
Special Effects crews having “a lot more fun than I was”. He began to pursue a
decidedly different course, Prop and Model Building, as well as Set Design and
Construction for a number of Live Theatres in the Los Angeles area. Needless to
say, doing all of the above was at best, exhausting.
So, at the age of 25, James finally waved
goodbye to Acting as a Profession, and plunged full steam into the world of
Effects Modeling, Sculpting, and Prop Building, for both the Motion Picture
Industry, as well as the Theme Park Industry.
A few years down the line, while working
on building a Set for a Commercial, James happened by the Graphics Department,
and saw for the first time the ability of 3D Computer Art. It didn’t take him
long to realize that the shape of things to come, was indeed 3D Computer
Graphics. So using his talent and skills as a Model Maker, as well as hobby
computer builder, James once again changed course. It wasn’t long before he
found himself heading up the CG Art Department for a new Game Company.
Now after 8 plus years, James has a large
number of published high end games to his credit, as well as a good deal of
experience in Virtual Sets, Theme Park pre-visualization, and low poly, high
detail Real Time 3D Environments.
