Bummer

By: Debra Doyle and Kendra Rimbach

Can you imagine school without art, band, after-school sports or even Mr. Riebhoff? Well, you better start imagining because this gruesome issues about to become a reality. We recently talked to Dr. Stebbins and he said that everything was at stake.

"You can tell a great deal about society based on how they treat their young people and their old people." said Dr. Stebbins. In other words society cares about us as much as we care about homework. Because of socities lack of intrest in its youth lately, we may lose everything that makes school fun. We may be reduced to just "The Basics." Yes people, that means actually learning!!!

All we can do now is wait. Dr. Stebbins says that he has a positive attitude and everything will be okay, don't worry. Us students can do a lot to help. Dr. Stebbins gives us this helpful hint "Do your job, don't cause problems...YOu HEAR!" Be sure to stay on your best behavior and it will make for a fun and easier school year.

"By the way you don't see any prison funding being cut, only schools...totally bogus." The people in state prisons are getting more luxuries while we are stuck with old textbooks.

Devyn Jordan-Good

By: Nija Fountano

When someone is taken away from your life, you really realize how much you care for them and how much they influenced you. Recently this happened. Devyn Jordan-Good passed away December 22,2002. When the students of Roger's Middle School returned from their two week break on January 6,2003, they were rudely awakened by the fact that one of their own students was away, never to return.

On Friday, January 10, many of his friends and strangers showed their respect by attending his memorial. Gloomy faces and low spirits were lingering around the room as people were showcasing pictures and reflecting on their friendship with Devyn. It was a sorrow time, but people had so many good things to say. Many said he always wore a smile and had a positive attitude. Along with being an artist, he was a great friend!

Devyn Jordan-Good was an amazing student, friend and person. No one will ever forget his creative, kind-hearted spirit.
