Sugar gliders are not only prey but also hunters, they are omnivores. Most prey have eyes at the sides of their heads, and hunters have them in front, I guess gliders are kind of in the middle. They have scent glands for marking their territory, big ears and eyes and whiskers for hunting and they leap well to pounce on prey.
A glider's diet is the most important part of taking care of a sugar glider. I know from my own experience that information is always changing, what I had once thought to be a healthy diet, turns out not to be so good for them.
Sugar gliders are sap suckers so try to stay away
from pellets like hard cat food. They are hunters and
prey, so they need more protein then most websites will
tell you. I believe the diet should be from 25% to 50%
protein and 50% fruits and veggies. We like to try and
keep their diet to resemble the wild as much as we can. I have a link to the leadbeaters
recipe
or BML this is the most used sugar
glider diet, and proven to be the best!!! It worked
really well with my gliders when they were ill.

Sugar gliders originally come from Australia and
Indonesia, a few other places but I know one of mine
came from Indonesia. She use to have a brown coat but
lost it over the years. They are easily tamed and love
affection because they are communal animals, which
means you have to spend at least 2 hours a day
socializing with them. They are cute and cuddly
and they just make great pets, but ONLY if you are
a real animal lover and willing to spend hours or
your time and hundreds of dollers on them, this way
you can provide them with everything they need,
which is A LOT compared to most pets. If you are, then
I don't think you will have a problem spending your
time with these cute little guys, or your money.
