I just learned the easiest, cheapest way to clean my bong. So I have to share it with all of you. It takes 4 quick steps. First you need rubbing alcohol (isopropyl 91% works best), this dissolves the gunk. You will also need either epsom salt, uncooked rice, or popcorn kernels, they help break the gunk loose.

Step #1: Run hot water through your bong for about 5 mintues to soften the gunk inside. This step makes cleaning 10 times easier.

Step #2: Put about a tablespoon of salt/rice/popcorn in your bong (more or less depending on bong size and how dirty it is). Then add your rubbing alcohol (just a little more than the amount of bongwater you normally put in).

Step #3: Plug all the openings of your bong with your fingers or hands and shake the hell out of it for a minute or two.

Step #4: Empty the salt (or whatever you used) & alcohol out of your bong, repeat cleaning if necessary. Rinse out your bong until you can't smell anymore alcohol. Now your ready to smoke!

I tried this method, it works just as good as any store bought cleaner, plus at a fraction of the cost.

This is my cat, Bonnie (R.I.P.), and my freshly cleaned bong (using the salt/alcohol method). It looks brand new. My stoned-ass should of taken a before picture, but I forgot. Trust me, it was caked with thick, nasty resin, and the salt/alcohol took it right off. Thanks to my cousin Tom for the new cleaning method!

Here are a few tips to help keep your bong cleaner and have better tasting hits:
1. Always empty and rinse your bong between uses.
2. Never leave bong water in the bong when not in use.
3. Always use fresh bong water.
4. Never leave stale smoke in your bong's chamber. It stains and leaves it smelly.
