I am a Graduate Student (2-1) Honours in Electrical Engineering from
Staffordshire University, England. I was born on 26th
July 197O in Dumfries,Scotland.My home town is a village called Powfoot on the South west coast of Scotland.
My Graduation Day 2000
Well done Scotland to all the Rugby Team in the World Cup 2015.
Through my time spent at the University i made a lot of great friends and the memories will be with me forever. We had so many great Greek nights at the Uni with so many plates broken.
I would like to congratulate a dear friend of mine Professor Thomas Anthopolous at Imperial College, London. For becoming a Professor, such an achievement. Also best wishes to all my old uni friends in all aspects of their lives. Hope you all every success in all your futures.
I was voted top prize from a panel of six Professors for my project which i carried out during my final year spent there. The project was to simulate the damping losses of a twelve pulse converter using P-Spice simulation, this software was developed at Berkley University in the USA. I managed to simulate the firing of a twelve pulse converter with firing intervals of 30 degrees, with the use of thyristors. This had never been achieved before in the history of the University in Stafford. It was a first according to my supervisor Prof Sarath B Tennakoon, the next step was to simulate the cross commutation of two transformers in a delta/delta - delta/Y configuration. Which I could have gone onto complete as part of a Phd. Other test circuits completed were a half brige, full bridge, and a six pulse which rectification from AC to DC. It was a real pleasure to have completed such an interesting final year project. It won me first prize which was presented by Prof Moofik Al-Tai and Prof Sir Tom Ruxton-Rip. I received my 2-1 Honours degree at Trentham Gardens, Stoke, in June 2000, which was presented by Sir Jack Ashley & Prof Christine King. I cherished every second of my time spent there, a sweet & enduring memory of it all treasured in my heart eternally.
