Breakthru 2001

Friday Saturday Sunday Pictures

7:30 AM: Missed the wake-up call. A great start...but I was up and running (well, more like crawling) before I knew it. Molly and I were ready in a record 15 mins. this day. Somebody should put that in the Guinness World Book of Records. Or not. Anyways, I was even more blinded today by the dang bathroom lights! Really, they need to put filters on those things for morning! I think I might have brushed my teeth with mascara, I'm not sure. Probably not, since I don't wear the stuff, but who cares?

8:05 AM: The Freddie Mercury Untold Story was supposed to start at 8:00 but they weren't on a really tight schedule here so it started around 8:05. Right when we walked in. Low and behold..there were people in our seats!!! We sat in the second row for about 5 mins before realizing if we nicely asked the lady in front of us to move down one seat, we could sit where we always sat. So we did and the rest was history. Unrecorded history at best, but history. On with the show...ah yes, The Freddie Mercury Untold Story. Very informative and very sad towards the end. I went to the back of the room to hide my tears (I'm not a big cryer, but when it comes to death...) and found they had pastries. Mm. Food. What a novelty. I tried to drown my sorrows in a apple-tart thingie and a bagel (which was a gross onion). Didn't work, although my stomach thanked me for it. Poor Heather (the girl who sat next to me for about 99% of the convention) ran out of the ballroom bawling and her husband hot on her heels. I felt like doing that, but my don't-you-dare-cry-in-front-of-these-people instinct cut in. Thank you!

10:00 AM: My throat was never so sore or raw after this event. Maybe you've guessed it but...it was time for Roger Taylor Solo Video's!! OOH, the sexiness....mm. I nearly melted, reformed and then combusted!! That would have been interesting if I did. Molly was trying to talk to me at one point, but I wasn't listening. I was screaming at the top of my lungs at the sexy guy on the screen. They also showed the Cross video's...loved "Shove it!" I was all singing along and stuff. Okay, I can't go on...I'm going melt here....onto next part of convention...

11:30 AM: Here's where I finally realized that it was Sunday and I would have to leave soon. I started looking all over for people I knew like Erin, the ladies that sat next to us on Saturday, and others. I never found anyone though. I felt quite alone and I probably would have gone all teary-eyed if it wasn't for Molly. Good 'ole Molly. I did enjoy the "Friends will be Friends" video. Very entertaining. Wished I had it on tape. Heather and Shane had already left and I couldn't find Paloma. I hadn't said good-bye to anyone except Shane and Heather! But, before I could find people to say good-bye to, my mom and my sister came in and we all left. It was sad, but the Queen day was not over, let me tell you! There was still the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to be delt with!

FORGET THE FRIGGEN TIME: I can't remember anyways. I don't have my handy little schedule to go by now. Now, it's just me and my terrible memory....God save us all! Okay, I remember that we went up to our room, packed all our stuff (my bag was considerably heavier) and loaded it into the car. We decided to take the public transport to the airport, where we'd catch the subway. Whilst waiting for the *always* late transport, we met a very nice person whom I forget the name of. Stupid me. She had apparently just arrived the night before and had missed all the fun activities! I felt sorry for her. She rode with us all the way to the RARHOF. We arrived at the airport, got our subway tickets, and took the first subway to a nameless station (I forgot it, okay?!) and got on another subway. It was here where we met up with Paloma and her mom. They are really nice people and Paloma is a friend of mine. They also stayed with us until the RARHOF. On our third little thingie on tracks, we met with a whole bunch of Queen convention goers. The funny thing was, we were all on the wrong train-thingie! So, in the middle of nowhere, we got off and stood around in the burning sun for a while, waiting for a train. Paloma popped in Greatest Hits on her CD player to pass the time (why didn't I bring mine??) and I cracked a joke about "How many Queen fans does it take to get to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?" I got a few little chuckles, but nobody found it amusing besides myself. I crack myself up! Anyway, our train-thingie finally came and we made it to where we needed to go. After walking about 2-3 blocks, we were there. Finally! This was really cool. Molly and I were let loose inside and we charged around looking for anything Queen-related. We found a picture in which all of them looked super good, but John looked a little on the drunk side. We also came across Bo Rhap being one of the 500 best songs ever (duh), an interview with Brian May (just a snippet with a video clip), and a jukebox with all of their songs ever! OOh! I think Molly and I were there for a half-hour! Very cool. After that, we browsed the record sales and stuff. Didn't find very many Queen things. You're probably wondering why I didn't mention the Queen exhibit with Freddie's catsuit and everything. Well, that's simple = WE DIDN'T SEE IT! We did not find that exhibit! I found out about it after I came home. Not cool. We left after a bit (I think around 4:00) and I was starving. I had a water and drained it in 2 seconds, but I was still hungry. We met up with the nice-lady-whose-name-I-forget again and rode back to the hotel with her. It was officially time to leave.

LEAVING HOME (A.K.A. QUEEN CONVENTIONS) AIN'T EASY: Brian was right on that one. We hopped in the car and started a long drive home. Fortunately, we had our 8 new Cd's collectively (I had 6 new ones and Molly just got 2 I didn't have) so we listened to those. We figured out that John lives in a field and his kids are spread out all over (we saw the tiny house), and we also figured that Roger really, really needs to quit the giggling on "Happiness?" because it was bad enough when he was dressing in drag. John does sing on a Queen son! It's "Gimme the Prize" and remember that really scary voice that said things like, "I know his name" and stuff? That's our John! Heh. I'm going really deep into some inside jokes now, so don't mind me. I won't go on and on about the drive home so I better sign off now. Thanks for reading this! I hope I did some justice to the FANTASTIC AWESOME GREAT COOL (running out of adjectives) event! 'Till next time....
