Ginny Baker is a minor league baseball player who becomes the first woman ever to play in the major leagues, when she's hired as a pitcher for the San Diego Padres. This naturally becomes a major media event, and boosts ticket sales to the games. But she'll have to overcome a lot of sexism, even from her own team. And later, she must deal with resentment some teammates have for her sudden popularity, which kind of overshadows the team as a whole. Anyway... the Padres' manager is Al Luongo (Dan Lauria). The team's catcher is Mike Lawson (Mark-Paul Gosselaar). There's also a player named Blip Sanders, a former minor league teammate and close friend of Ginny's, who had been recruited to the Padres some time earlier. (Ginny is also friends with Blip's wife, Evelyn.) Ginny's agent is Amelia Slater (Ali Larter). And throughout the show, we see flashbacks to various events from Ginny's past.

Well, there are other characters I haven't mentioned, and a lot of plot developments I don't want to get into. The first season was just ten episodes (and I missed one of them). I suppose I would have added more details about season one if it had gotten a second season, but it didn't. And I'm only mildly disappointed by that. The show was decent, and I would have liked to get more episodes, but I wasn't hugely invested in it.
