I haven't seen enough of this to rate it.

Tales From the Crypt, on HBO

This ran for seven seasons on HBO, from 1989-96. It was based on 1950s comic books that I've never read. And since I never got HBO, I didn't get to see the show until it was syndicated on some other channel (I forget what), probably sometime in the mid-90s. I never saw much of it, and I'm pretty sure whatever I did see was edited from the original version (which was uncensored). And I don't remember any of the actual stories. Anyway, each episode was introduced by a ghoulish puppet called the Crypt Keeper (who looked scary, but used a lot of lame death-based puns). As ridiculous as the Crypt Keeper was, he had a certain inexplicable charm. (Well, maybe it was just that the dichotomy of his appearance and his personality were somehow... I dunno, just sort of fun.) But of course, the show wasn't really about him, he was just the host. Each episode was a stand-alone horror story. And... I don't know what else to say. I might like to get the show on DVD someday. Maybe I could think of more to say about it, then, or maybe not. At least I could come up with a rating for the show.

There were also a couple of theatrical movies based on the show, Demon Knight and Bordello of Blood. And I guess there was a third, "Ritual," which I doubt I'll ever see. Also there was a Saturday morning cartoon, "Tales from the Cryptkeeper," which I'm not sure whether I ever saw or not.
