I don't think I ever saw that much of this show, and now I don't remember it very well. Though I did watch a few episodes on the DVD of the movie on which the cartoon is loosely based. I'd like to see more of the show sometime... I don't think I'd actually like it as much as I want to, but it's not bad. Certainly it's very strange and unusual, which is a plus in my book. Anyway, all I can really tell you is that it differs significantly from the movie. Beetlejuice himself seems to be kind of a jerk, and not as funny as he thinks he is, but at least he's nicer than he was in the movie. Oh, in case you didn't know, he's also a ghost. He's best friends with a living girl named Lydia Deetz, who's into creepy stuff. But she does seem to be smarter than Beetlejuice, and though they genuinely like each other, she can also be frustrated by the ridiculous ways he acts. Anyway, Beetlejuice lives in a realm called the Neitherworld, which Lydia frequently visits. There are various creepy things living there, like a French skeleton named Jacques, and a tap-dancing spider named Ginger, and a big hairy neighbor called The Monster Across the Street. But Beetlejuice also visits Lydia in her world fairly often, even if no one there knows he's a ghost. (He goes by the name "Mr. Beetleman".) Um, Lydia's parents are in the show, but they seem very different from how they were in the movie. And the movie's main characters, Adam and Barbara Maitland, aren't in the show at all.
Well, in spite of the paranormal creepiness of the show, it's kinda funny, and wacky, and full of ridiculous puns and such. I dunno. It seems like it could've been better than it was, but it also could've been a lot worse. I should also mention that Tim Burton produced it, so that's cool. And the theme music was done by Danny Elfman. I wish I could think of something more to tell you... maybe I'll expand this review if I ever get to see more of the show.
