I wouldn't know how to rate this film.

This came out in 2004. It was a hugely controversial and disturbing dramatization of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It's not something I was planning on seeing, but I kind of got dragged to it by my sister and probably some other people... I can't even remember who else went, maybe our cousins, maybe some of my sister's friends. Anyway... I don't really remember what I thought of it. The fact that it's deeply disturbing is appropriate, given the subject matter. As for the various controversies surrounding it, I probably thought they were blown out of proportion. I don't think I thought it was a bad movie, and I guess I don't mind that I saw it. But I have no interest in ever seeing it again. I'm kind of sorry I didn't write a review, at the time, because now (ten years later) I really can't think of anything much to say about it. (Actually, what I remember most about the movie is one scene where Jesus built a table that wasn't... a normal height for tables, in those days, I guess. Theologians could explain some religious symbolism regarding that, but to me it was just an amusing scene that made me feel like Jesus was predicting the tables of the future, or something.)

But anyway... if you're looking for a movie to watch on Easter that's actually about Easter, I mean the true meaning of the holiday, this is probably the best one you can find. I guess. But I wouldn't recommend watching it on a stomach full of candy.
