This is a Danish movie, dubbed into English. Apparently it came out in 2013, but I first saw it in 2018, after picking up a cheap DVD somewhere. It's not exactly a good movie, even by kid movie standards, but it's amusing, because of how redonkulous it is. And it's very derivative of "Spider-Man."

So, there's this 12-year-old boy named Pelle Nøhrmann, who narrates the movie. He's upset about how ordinary he is, and the fact that basically no one ever notices him at all. Also, he has a crush on a classmate named Amanda. One day, Pelle sees some bigger kids picking on a boy named Wilhelm (whose name, incidentally, is pronounced like "Willem," which I found amusing because of... you know, Spider-Man's villain being played by Willem Dafoe). Pelle throws an apple at one of the kids, who then start chasing him. But he's faster, and manages to get away and hide. While hiding, he gets bitten by an ant (apparently the same ant seen in comic book panel-styled images from the opening credits of the movie). After that, he develops various super powers, including super strength, enhanced sense of smell, biting power, wall-crawling, and... a gross power I'm not going to specify.

Before long, Wilhelm, who is a comic book aficionado, realizes Pelle has super powers, and helps mold him into a super hero. "Antboy" soon becomes quite popular- even Amanda likes him. But then a villain calling himself the Flea kidnaps Amanda, because of a tragic backstory for which he blames Amanda's father. After that, Amanda's sister, Ida, asks Antboy for help rescuing Amanda. And... I don't really want to reveal any more details of the plot.

Anyway... it's all fairly silly, but it's cute.
