This came out in 1982, but it's set in 1946, or something like that. And it's in black & white. Steve Martin plays a private detective named Rigby Reardon, who gets hired by a woman named Juliet Forrest, to investigate the apparent murder of her father. The movie is a parody of/homage to 1940s film noir movies, and the scenes of Rigby and Juliet are sort of spliced with scenes from a bunch of old movies. The lines of characters in those movies take on new meanings in the context of this movie. And, um... I don't really know what else to say. The movie is just pretty redonkulous, but also clever and amusing. Man, this is a short review, but it's a good movie.
