War Measures Act: September 1, 1939

Sept. 1, 1939: On Sept. 1, 1939, the Canadian government invoked the War Measure Act for the second time in Canadian history. The first time was during WWI. The War Measure Act gives the government more power than usual. The few that runs the government can now make decisions without having to go through parliament, used in times of war to achieve fast decisions.
