National Resources Mobilization Act: June 21, 1940
June 21, 1940:
On June 21, 1940, Mackenzie King’s government passed the National Resources Mobilisation Act. It gave the government the power to control human and material resources in emergencies. Everyone over 16 years was to sign up to defend the country. Only those that were mentally unfit or have strong religious resentment were excluded.
