MarciElla
By Marcella Barrett
"A fairytale based on a true story."
Once upon a time there lived a little girl who's name was MarcieElla. She was left on the doorstep of an old, raggedy orphanage when she was a baby. One day, when she was only a little older than one year, a man and a lady came to the orphanage. They were looking for a little girl to have as their own. They found only one child they liked ¡V MarcieElla. That same day, when they left the orphanage, they took MarcieElla with them. She had been given a new home.
MarcieElla did not like her new home. She was to be the new sister of another little girl, MickeyMarie, and she was two years older than MarcieElla. LaVida, MarcieElla's new mother, and Lenudo, her new father, never did any work. Neither did CharlieAnna, MarcieElla's new grandmother. They made MickeyMarie do all of the chores. Mickey Marie was often grouchy, and she would hit MarcieElla. MarcieElla became scared of the whole entire family. She would never go near any of them. If they tried to talk to her or play with her, she would run from them and hide under the bed.
As MarcieElla grew older, the family came to realize what a hot temper she had. She would hit, kick, and bite anybody who came near her. They took her to school on her first day of kindergarten. She yelled and screamed the whole time. She became angry with her new teacher, and picked up a chair and threw it at the teacher. She would hit and bite the other children.
Finally one day, the principal said MarcieElla should go see a special doctor. So LaVida and Lenudo took MarcieElla to see a man called Dr. Willie. He was very nice to MarcieElla. He gave her candy and toys to play with. He was never mean to her. MarcieElla finally found somebody she could talk to and play with. One day, they were playing a game in Dr. Willie's office. Then, taking MarcieElla by surprise, he told her that he had been telling her mother, LeVida, everything MarcieElla told him when they talked. MarcieElla had told Dr. Willie why she was mean to everybody. She told him she was real scared of LeVida and Lenudo. Right then MarcieElla knew she had lost her one and only friend. She ran away crying and screaming that she never wanted to see Dr. Willie again.
Well, LeVida and Lenudo tried to get MarcieElla to go back and see Dr Willie again. She would not go. She would scream and shout "No, no, no!" She would not go back. So they took her to a big hospital and told her she was going to play some games with a lady who wanted to be her friend. Well, the games turned out to be tests, to see how smart MarcieElla was. She did not like them at all. They made her walk up and down three steps for a long time. Even when she got tired they made her keep climbing. Then they put wires all over her head to listen to her brain. She did not like this one bit. She would not be friends with the lady, who turned out to be a doctor.
Well, MarcieElla grew older and bigger. Now in the classroom she began hitting teachers and throwing desks. Then one day she started fifth grade. Her new teacher was really pretty and nice. MarcieElla said she looked like a princess. The new teacher, Mrs. Strawrake, was very kind to all the children. One day she took Marcieella to meet a baseball player, Juan Cruise. They watched him help his team win a game. Then he took MarcieElla back to school. He met the whole class and they had a big party. When it was time to go he gave MarcieElla a kiss on the cheek. Now, MarcieElla was not well liked at school. Many of the other girls were jealous, and they teased her about Juan kissing her. But MarcieElla did not know they were jealous. She became very angry.
A couple years later LaVida and Lenudo decided they did not want to take care of MarcieElla anymore. Even though they got out of many chores by having her around, they were tired of taking care of her. So they put her in a foster home. She stayed with the Hamburger family for three months. She did not like them any better. She would hit and bite them too. So they said they did not want her. She had to go back with LaVida and Lenudo again. She started running away. Finally they called their older son, Harry, who was a policeman.
Harry put MarcieElla in a group home. It was here that MarcieElla was to have her first boyfriend. They had all sorts of problems. The house parents tried working with MarcieElla, but she began running away every day and returning at night. Her boyfriend was always with her. Finally the group home, after working with MarcieElla for a yar, sent her away to Candlewax Hospital.
MarcieElla was locked in a room at Candlewax. She could only come outside for awhile with the other kids. The people there worked with MarcieElla. She was there only for a short while, then they found a place that could take better care of her. So she was sent to Crazy Study and Torture Chamber. There was a man there called Dr. Quackley. He tried teaching MarcieElla how to make friends and control her temper. MarcieElla met her best friend, Nicolette, who taught her lots. That was the beginning of MarcieElla's treatment.
MarcieElla lived at the treatment center for six months. Then she moved to her Aunt Losella¡¦s home. MarcieElla lived with Aunt Losella for one month. While there, she went to christian school and met Karmella Jansen. MarcieElla did not like living there, so she said she wanted to go home.
Well, Uncle Chuckeldoo took MarcieElla home where she was happy for about one week. Then all went wrong. LaVida started to yell and preach at MarcieElla. So one day MarcieElla said she would not stay at home if LaVida was there. LaVida got angry and took off to live with Aunt Losella and Uncle Chuckeldoo. Then Lenudo started yelling at MarcieElla. One Friday evening Josinda, MarcieElla's friend, spent the night. The next morning, they ran away and went to Josinda's house. Well, sure enough MarcieElla's dad, Lenudo, found MarcieElla and took her home. The next day MarcieElla skipped school. She ran away that night and went to Residential Crazy Center.
Well, MarcieElla lived at RCC for four months. She made many friends there. One day a mean old lady, LaDiva Sage, came and took MarcieElla to a new home. MarcieElla never saw LaDiva again, and that was good.
Well, MarcieElla was at New Idiotic Crazy Home for three years. She learned many things and met many special people. One of the most special people was Jason Crest. He was the second man she had ever truly been in love with. Only that love was stolen away from her by her best friend, Angelina Mernow. Even though MarcieElla was greatly upset by this, they all became great friends.
Well, when MarcieElla became 18 years old, she left New Idiotic Crazy Home and went back to her friends at RCC. She went to college after graduating from the all-famous Dives Highschool. She got a job at RCC as a counselor. She had finally fulfilled her most important dream.
One day, a knock came to the door of RCC. When MarcieElla answered this knock, she was met by a tremendous surprise! Standing at the door was Angelina and Jason, her old friends. She had not seen them for years. They met her with a warm hug and many tears of joy.
Angelina told MarcieElla they were on their way to Polowi. They had come to ask her to join them. So MarcieElla quit her job at RCC. They bought bus tickets to Severt. There was an old friend MarcieElla wanted to look up.
Well, MarcieElla went to her first boyfriend's house. There she found the man of her dreams - Wellsy Crall. This was the man she had fallen in love with so many years before. He met her with an embrace she'd never dreamed of. He joined MarcieElla, Angelina, and Jason. Together they all went to Polowi.
They had a wonderful time in Polowi. They lived there many years. Finally, on MarcieElla's twenty-fifth birthday, they went to a very special restaurant. They had a wonderful dinner, then went for a walk on the beach. In the bright moonlight, Wellsy asked MarcieElla to marry him. She accept, and it was then that she learned that Angelina and Jason were also engaged. Jason had asked Angelina only moments before.
They set the date for their wedding and planned to have it in Polowi. It turned out to be a beautiful wedding, both Angelina and MarcieElla marrying at the exact same time. As usual, they were dressed as twins.
Now MarcieElla lives with Wellsy, Angelina with Jason, in a beautiful ten-story mansion. They have children running everywhere. They live peacefully, except for the many dances they go to.
The best thing of all is that MarcieElla's dreams had all been fulfilled. She graduated from both high school and college; she had become a counselor at RCC; she had found Wellsy, the man of her dreams and also her first love; she had gotten married, had children; she was reunited with her sister Angelina, and her brother-in-law Jason. Also though it has not been mentioned, one more dream has been fulfilled. It is the most wonderful of all. Something MarcieElla has wanted her whole life.
MarcieElla's greatest fulfillment was to find out who her mother and father were. She discovered that Angelina and Nicolette were her true blood sisters. She met her mother and father and they were reunited. MarcieElla now lives with her husband Wellsy, Angelina and Jason, her mother and father, and Nicollette.
MarcieElla's dreams have come true at last.
THE END.
Author's Note:
I am embarrassed to say that I wrote this story when I was a child. I'm not sure how old I was, as the original story is not dated; but I'm going to guess that I was around 15 years old. As I read through this story many years later, my first thought is "That is the WORST piece of 'literature' I have ever read!" By the way, it is typed here exactly as the original story was written, poor grammar and all! Although the events of my childhood did not unfold "exactly" as described here, this story really WAS based somewhat on truth. I'll take some time now to point out some differences between truth and reality.
I was not left in an orphanage; I was taken away from my biological mother by the state. I went to live with my adopted family when I was 18 months old, and never have bonded with them. I did (and still do) have an awful temper, and I vividly remember throwing those chairs and desks at my teachers. I did go through psychiatric care starting at the age of 7, although there were some previous tests done when I was 4 years old that I don't remember. My brother was a reserve police officer, and he was the one who got the ball rolling to send me back into state care. My adopted mom did leave home for a short period when I was younger, because she was having a nervous breakdown. The bitterness which turned to friendship between Angela and I couldn't be any truer than written. I did graduate from high school (but it wasn't Davis) and college; but I did not go into social work. By the age 25, my friendship with Angela was long over; I had been through one divorce and was remarried. I've never been to Hawaii or Everett; and I was never reunited with Angela, Jay, or Wes. I DID find my birthparents and 4 out of 5 siblings; I met my birthmother on my 27th birthday but it was not a happy reunion. I have not been reunited with any of my other birthfamily. Oh, and the thing about lots of kids running around and living happy ever after? Uh uh, no way, no how! I have two children, four and eight years old right now; and their dad and I are divorced.
Every person and place named within this story really DID exist. Their names were changed to "hide" their identity, but I remember (almost) each and every one of them. I think they deserve some credit, don't you?
