Constructing a Building for Dances

For my project, I have picked the topic of constructing a building for dances. I am going to tell you what kind of a building, the purpose, the size, the costs for building it, and how to build it.
The kind of building I want to build is a dance hall that can be used for dances, community gatherings, and club meetings. This building has to be accessible for all people with all different kinds of access needs, including wheelchair access.
The reason I want to construct a building for dances is so there will be a place where everyone can come together to have social activities because it is important for everyone to be able to socialize. Some people with disabilities have a hard time getting out and socializing because they are not invited, or they may not feel welcome, or the places that they want to go do not have access for them.
This building needs to be 10,000 square feet so there will be room for an office to keep track of important paperwork and scheduling for the building’s use. It also will have a large dance floor, and two large conference rooms for community meetings. This way, more than one group can benefit from using the building at one time. The bathrooms also need to be large enough to meet the access needs of everybody. There will be ramps for wheelchair access at the entry and exit ways, and access bars also. The access bars will be placed at two levels: one for people who are walking and using them, and the others for people in wheelchairs.
Costs for construction of this building are estimated to be:
Land - $50,000
Architect - $1,000
Permits/fees - $11,500
Contractor - $125,000

Total Cost: $187,500

I would arrange for my financing by applying for grants and asking community businesses to donate time, money, and materials. I would also ask community agencies to help fund the building. This building project would fall under the name of the club I am trying to establish. We would appoint a board of directors and incorporate under the name of the club. I would form partnerships with area businesses and community agencies to help sponsor the club and the building. I would consult with the architect on the best design for the money and get the blueprints set up to give to the contractors. I would design the building how I want it with the architect’s help. I would set up a bank account with the name, Community Building Fund, to deposit the donations.

The details of finishing this project include making sure that the building is constructed with the right materials. The ceilings must be made so the rooms have acoustics that will be good for dances and entertainment in the main hall, and good for community meetings in the conference rooms. The lighting inside the building would be track lighting in the main area for dances and fluorescent fixtures in the other rooms. Outside lighting would be designed so there would be no dark areas in the parking lot.

Constructing this building would be a joint effort on the part of the community businesses and agencies, and would be done for all members of the community to benefit from. The building would belong to the community and would operate under the direction of the board of directors. The community would finally have a building that everyone could access successfully.
