My political views
Mood:  chillin'
Topic: Philosophy
Okay, I don't talk politics or religion very much because 1) they are loaded topics, and 2) I don't really care. Some other people I know said I should write down my views though, if nothing else than to cause strife, disharmony, and general disarray (hopefully in comment,s I'd like to read some).

I am an American in the loosest sense of the word. My parents are both American, I was born here, I'm American. My patriotism just about ends there though. I know there are a lot of people out there who say that the U.S. is the best damn country in the world, but I don't believe that. There are problems here, a significant amount, not the least of which is the arrogant notion that we are better that the rest of the world.

Then you get the redneck "If you don't like it here, get out" response. No thanks, I think I'll stay. I may not care much for how our government works, but here's the deal: they don't bother me. I pay my taxes, they pretty much ignore my existence. I'm cool with that.

Here's a big surprise, I don't vote. Our system is set up basically so that the least qualified people to run our government are the ones who end up in office. Honor, integrity, honesty, and decency would be nice to have in politics, but because of the slander and the campaign funding and so on and so forth, all of these people drop out before they ever get close to office because they get disgusted to. So I don't vote, which people says eliminates my right to complain about the current situation. What a load of crap. I don't vote by choice, not like people who are just to lazy to go out and vote. I could vote, but then I'd be supporting a system that I don't believe is valid. I have the right to complain about a system which I think is broken. I complain equally too, democrat, republican, all of them have my ire.

Politics is an area which I am more that happy to ignore, as long as it doesn't do something that directly effects me. Usually it doesn't, no matter how much I've been told that candidate "A'" is better than candidate "B" and vice versa, I never really notice a difference in my personal life. Funny huh?

So there it is, I don't really care about politics, and they don't really care about me.
