Nothing much is known about it's earliest attempts, save the failure of the X2 generation, of which all but the four kept for research had to be terminated.

The X5 generation, born from 1997-2001 was more sucessful. Their combination of animal and human DNA gave them enhanced senses, supeirior strength, and greater memory. However the project was almost shut down in Febuary of 2009 when twelve prototypes managed to escape from the compound. The escape was blamed on the high amount of independance the X5s (who were designed to be officers) were designed with and the remaining prototypes were simplified.

The X7 were created after the X5's escape. They designed with hive minds and the ability to communicate in the ultrasonic range. They are fanatically loyal to Manticore.
