Max found Joshua in the basement of Manticore. He had been hiding there ever since 'father' (Sandeman) had left him there. Joshua helped Max escape, and when Manticore burned down and all of it's creations went AWOL, she looked out for Joshua.

Joshua discovered an ability to paint in The Medium is the Message. Though at first his works were abstracts, they made quite a stir in the artistic community.

Joshua's latest inspiration though is Annie. She was a blind girl who befriended him before she knew what he was. She was murdered by White, who framed Joshua for the murder to stir up anti-transgenic sentiment in the public. It wasn't pretty when Joshua caught up with White.
