• Appropriate signs for each area of the headquarters.

• A card file or computer file of all door-to-door volunteers with appropriate information.

• An adequate supply of scratch pads, legal pads, felt tip pens, pencils, masking tape, rubber bands, paper clips, thumb tacks, scotch tape, and magic markers for last minute signs.

• A First Aid Kit should be handy.

• A large map of the District and Precincts.

• Make sure you allow enough volunteer time to put together Canvass Kits for your volunteers. Canvass Kits should include the following:

• The script to be delivered at the door

• The list of answers to questions which may be asked of volunteers

• Complete registration information

• Mail registration forms

• Absentee ballot applications

• Pencil

• Strong piece of cardboard to use as a base for the volunteer to write on at the door

• "Sorry We Missed You" cards. A small card or piece of paper that indicates you stopped by and they were not at home. Include a phone number for them to call if interested. Always personally sign the card and leave it in the door.

Make sure you number each kit and have the volunteer sign for them. When the kit is returned, mark it off on a sheet. This process will assist you in knowing who has forgotten to turn in their voter identification sheets.
