ABSENTEE VOTER DRIVE

WHY ABSENTEE VOTING IS IMPORTANT

Many elections are decided by margins of less than ONE VOTE per precinct. The absentee elector may well win the crucial races for the GOP if he or she votes. Remember - absentee votes tend to be Republican votes.

Any duly registered voter may vote absentee ballot if:

HOW TO CONDUCT THE ABSENTEE VOTER DRIVE

Step 1 Go over your precinct card file or precinct database and sort our cards or entries of all those Republicans and voters who lean toward the GOP and have indicated a need to vote absentee. The only way you know who these people are is through the successful completion of your precinct canvass.

Step 2
Review the cards or entries for registered voters whom you know to be ill, away at college, in the armed services, planning a trip, etc. Add these cards to the list of those to be contacted.

Step 3 Contact absentee voters or a member of their family and urge them to apply for an absentee voter ballot.

NOTE: Ballots may be secured anytime during the 45 days prior to election.
The ballot itself must be voted and postmarked no later than election day.

Step 4 Provide information to the voter on how to apply for a ballot and vote absentee. Offer to assist the voter in any way possible.
